Hi, Chick. I had to ask you this one outta curiosity, since you're one of Kamali's best friends, besides Jim Magnone (well, maybe you guys are the only two that he has ;D) :
How do you stay even between Kamali and Shawn Ray feud, since you are good friends to both, once they hate each others gut - literally speaking?!
I mean, there must obviously exist a good deal of shit slinging between the two of them and you, once you happen to be talking with one or the other at times......
How do you manage to keep up your friendship with them without it being harmed by the gayness of these feud, which is literally stuff related to the kindergarten days?
I'd like to hear your point of view on this. Thanks. 8)
-
It's easy...I have nothing to do with it.
Neither one of them bring it up to me, and I don't get involved...whatever problem they have with each other, rests solely with themselves.
-
Sounds like the makings of a politician to me. Maybe when Arnold moves up to the Senate, you could run for Governor.
-
Bob, are you Catholic?
-
Bob, are you Catholic?
With a surname like Cicherillo, I don't think he's Hindu. :)

I was thinking Southern Baptist. ;)
-
Bob, are you Catholic?
I grew up Catholic...although I'm not a "church person" myself.
-
Then there is no way he's gonna be President. Def. has the potential for Sen. Cicherillo though. Nobody seems to want a Catholic president; they don't like our denomination Bob.
You can have the getbiggers be your campaign boys.
"Hey Goatboy I need more posters in LA."
"Sure thing big_mal."
"We need an interview with Arnold.....Ron get on that."
"Whatever you do, keep Alexxx away from here. Nobody likes the Russians."

RUSSIAN? I figured he was in a hurry, but certainly not Russian...! ;D

Hahahaha

Fair enough, Bob.
So, as you're very close to King, have you ever gave tips or advices to him regarding his behaviour as a professional athlete? I mean, come on, he should have a much thicker skin to tolerate insults or harsh critics. And what about his shit slinging towards established athletes and coleagues of his? Since you have a reputation of being a very political guy in the bizz, you sure could advise him on not taking to seriously the boards and stuff like that. And what about his antics regarding the whole George Farah fiasco? What did you tell Kamali about him elbowing George onstage? Dorian went on public record (FLEX mag, HARD TIMES, can't remember which month's edition) as saying that if it happened to him, he would've 'clock' Kamali right there onstage. He went as far as saying that he wanted so bad to climb up onstage and knock the shit outta Kamali.
King should definitely drop this whole prima donna atitude if he wants to gather the respect he thinks that he deserves, don't you think?
Anyways, thanks for the response.
-
I've made Tamali a household name, for that he is eternally greatful. ;D
Thanks for the publicity KING!
-
I grew up Catholic...although I'm not a "church person" myself.
Then how can you hang around Sean whogoes to church all the time and is a born again Christian or whatever shit he says. ???
-

Shawn, you mean that you're using Kamali the same way that Donald Trump is using Rosie O'Donnell for publicity? (of course not to compare you to The Donald and Kamali to Rosie in any way.)
-
EXACTLY!
TAMALI is great for the Publicity machine like ONLYME ;D

The only thing Shawn Raw is good at is being the FIRST EVER IFBB to get caught for stereoids way to go genius
d'oh

And the rest is history as they say! ;D
Enjoy.

Unfortunately son, the Bills for the CO Pro Am were paid in full, you musta missed the memo, since your barely out of school.
That being said, we signed on again for this year, you comin out?
Not only do you misrepresent the facts for being a so called scholar but it seems you dont even do your home work.
Dont come looking for a job from the good people at the CO PRO, remember to use a calculator, you wont make as many mistakes while Bean Counting ;D
-
Shawn, dude your melon is huge. No disrespect, just an FYI

I had it reduced, thanks! ;D

I'll tell ya what bro, it feels good to keep "Mr.Shawn Ray" on the tip of his toes by somebody who supposedly misrepresent "facts" and so-called a "scholar". But i'm doing a heck of a job by making you put on your thinking cap to work. This is how much fun it is to.....

I just threw up a little in my mouth:
:-[ :-\

As short as I am, being on my toes is a full time job! ;D

Shawn,
When are we going to see the before and after pictures?

I like and respect Keith, but that pic cracks me up everytime, classic.
-
Bob, are you Catholic?
He's Italian.......do you even have to ask that question. LOL ::)
-
Shawn, how much of your superior build do you attribute to Vyotech back then...when the company wasn't around?
how can they use old pictures of yours to advertise current supplements? isn't that deceptive and possible nefarious?
-
Same way as any company chooses a spokesman to represent their company...actor's, athletes,celebrities,etc......

As short as I am, being on my toes is a full time job! ;D
Sure as short as you are i'd rather have you dance like this for entertainment purposes dude ;D

I gotta tell ya I laugh too at that pic. It had me looking many times at the face. The face looks kinda like mine, but I am filipino and I have NO hair on my body except my arms (the german part). But I love the "not real" pics Sean post of me. Here is a REAL pic of our beloved Sean. He is so cute and cuddly

Let me ask Gaspari and Labrada who created their Companies and Products "AFTER" they finished their careers :o
As well, we can ask Cutler, Jackson, Alves, Dugdale, Coleman and the likes, how much the products from the companies who signed them AFTER they were Pro or Signed them away from other companies for more money, what the role of their products were even though they never used them prior to signing with them? :P
By the way, I'm the "SPOKESPERSON" for VYO TECH not a Sponsored Athlete as I have been retired from competition for going on 6 years! :-*
-
Same way as any company chooses a spokesman to represent their company...actor's, athletes,celebrities,etc......
no, it's not the same. a young girl who sees britney spears drinking pepsi in a t.v. commercial doesn't believe that if she drinks pepsi too she'll end up looking like britney. on the other hand, when a kid (who's interested in bodybuilding) sees a heavily muscled bodybuilder in a bodybuilding supplement ad, it's logical for him to assume that there's some kind of correlation between the product being sold and the physique of the bodybuilder (that's being displayed) who is endorsing it.
-
Joad, you poor kid, you'd better wake up if you think that is the assumption of the masses.
This is Professional BBing 101.
Me buying a $125.00 pair of Jordans because Michael endorsed them does not get me to thinking I'll be flying through the air like him.
However, i might be interested in buying a pair because it is the choice of Champions and I like him and want to support him.
It is not the same sales pitch in BBing because you see a guy sponsored by a company and their products that if I take what he takes, I'll look like him, there is a bit more to it.
Maybe if I buy a BUICK, I'll be like Tiger! ::)
D'oh!

The majority of these naive kids who are buying the supplements don't even know who Shawn Ray is. Nor do they care. All they see is the photo of a very muscular and ripped black dude alongside a bodybuilding supplement. And they make their purchase based on that image. You give yourself too much credit if you think kids are buying a product because it's "the choice of Champion Shawn Ray" and because they "like you" and they "want to support you." haha Oh, I forgot, you're Michael Jordan now. ::)

Wow, did it take you long to put that together? ::)
Your points aren't even remotely analogous. Supplements are intended to either make you a better bodybuilder or to help put muscle on the bodies of prospective bodybuilders and weightlifters. Clearly using pictures of you from your competition days instead of from today is meant to imply you used said supplements to help attain the level of muscularity you attained when you were competing. To state otherwise is disingenuous.
Also, since when did Buick start marketing their cars to people that want to improve their golf game? And when did sneaker advertisements start saying sneakers improve anyones basketball skills? Supplements are marketed as a way of improving the individual as a bodybuilder or weightlifter, your analogies stink.
-
I've made Tamali a household name, for that he is eternally greatful. ;D
Thanks for the publicity KING!
I wouldn't consider Kamali a household name. Very few would appreciate his name, face and likeness entering thier home. His arrogance, ego, and physical appearance is an embarrassment to human athletism.
-

Your points are off base...
Using pictures from a spokesman's competitive days are not trying to imply that they used that companies supps....they werent even around when Shawn was competing. The point is that an athlete (shawn in this instance) has attained a certain status in the industry, and has lended their name to a company or a product as a way of putting their stamp of approval to said company...
No one (endorsed athlete included) is trying to give the impression "that if you take our products...you'll look like me..." Just that they will help you along the way and lend to achieving your goals.
-
Schools out.
1st of all, I didn't know "Kids" were buying Supplements? Suggesting they must be buying the magazines too.
Kids sure make a lot of money these days, I wonder why i don't see "Kids" competing and walking around huge? :-\
I take it we are on the same page when we use the term "Kid" as someone who is prepubescent or below the age of 18 which is considered an adult. :-[
That being said, when I was a "Kid" I didn't buy magazines nor buy supplements based on who's in the ads since it wasn't until I was 18 to even understand who these people were and even then at that age you couldn't call me a "Kid"
So, who is getting ripped off again by false advertising?
Are you telling me that all the young girls out there who buy Revlon products, thinking because CHER is there Shampoo Spokeswoman that they will get the same results if they use the product? ???
Sadly, I say they probably wont but can try them as an alternative to what they currently use.
All those you kids who take Gaspari Nutrition or Labrada Nutrition after seeing these two former Pro's featured in their own ads, promoting their products that they never used during their careers that they too will look like them if they take it? :-[
Hell, I was given a Contract like many pro's before and after me, by a company based on how well I did in contests to represent them not because I used their products. ::)
The companies wait until the athletes have a certain measure of success or marketability before they even consider signing these guys and even then, most of them continue doing what they did prior to signing because what they did worked just fine. :o
At the end of the day, Marketing 101 is how many of the top guys get paid.
I endorse the company and their products but boast no claims whatsoever, being that my job is that of Spokesperson and Marketing Director of Athlete Relations.
You silly boy! :-*
Just the facts ;D

Are you honestly saying that you believe showing pictures of Ray from when he was competing in the supplement company ads. doesn't give the impression that he used those supplements to help him reach his bodybuilding goals?
You can't be that naive. Or is that just industry rhetoric divised to excuse what is clearly being intimated.
Explain to me why current pictures of Ray aren't used in the ads? If the ads aren't meant to imply he used them when he was competing why use images from when he was competing?

Well, at least you didn't use the Buick or Air Jordan analogy again.
You can rationalize all you want but the fact remains, when you use images from your competitive days in ads. to promote a supplement company it intimates that those supplements helped you when you competed.
Why not use current images in the ads?
You mentioned that you didn't know kids were buying supplements. Didn't a supplement company pay a young kid to appear at the Colorado show? You know, the kid whose father force fed him steroids when he was 7 years old. Are you ambiguous about the moral implications of that little representation as well?
-
So, when a Former Athlete signs a contract with comany endorsing products after their careers are over, they should not show pictures or film of their competive days when they were at their peak?
I guess I am naive ::)
Better inform Haney, Gaspari/ Gaspari Nutrition, Labrada/ Labrada Nutrition, Gerard Dente/ MHP and all the other Cat's out there with false advertisment :'(
-

Forget it, bro...you obviously dont get it and I dont have the time to explain it to you any more simple than I just did...
-
I got a question for bros, both Shawn Ray and Chic. What do you guys think about the soon to be the revolutionary drink by Milos which was also created by his science group?

Now we're getting somewhere. You've admitted that it's false advertising, congratulations, I never expected you to acknowledge it.
Care to answer one more? What purpose does showing pictures from your competitive days serve when you're endorsing a bodybuilding supplement that you didn't use in your competitive days? I don't expect you to answer that honestly either, but maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised again.
You're right in pointing out the parallels with Gaspari, Haney and Labrada but that doesn't change the basic premise. You're using images of from your stellar competitive days to sell a product you didn't take in your competitive days. If you honestly can't see the inherent contradiction in that then God Bless ignorance.
You're right though, it is Marketing 101 but that doesn't make it ethically correct.

i have to go with chic and ray on this, not once ever did i believe a supp was gonna make me pro or make me resemble them,if i used them it was to improve my current self,i had that cold harsh reality about bbing young and quick ,from training in my 1st real gym with people who showed me what really work's ;).

it's goat herding morality applied to strategic marketing of bodybuilding products, not sheep herding.
hope this biblically helps.

Perfectly put, if Ray were endorsing gear instead of garbage supplements then no one would question him for a second. Well, other than the legal aspect of it. ;D

see i don't need ray or chic or any pro's secret's or what they did,if u have a decent brain in your head you'll make those decision's yourself.trying to bait them to fess up is a waste to them and the board,go to the local gym and ask a local nobody who gear's up and never compete's or is big half of the year what supp's he prefer's and cycle's,natural and nonnatural, most are more open cause they think it is the cool thing to say.at least a pro who post's here has some integrity on the subject.

Just the facts ;D
..and there you have it. Probably the ONLY honest answer regarding the way an athlete looks at endorsements, and the way the public looks at endorsements.
It happens in sports, music, clothing, bodybuilding...advertise rs know the big names help sell. If Shawn wants to justify his income by somehow disconnecting the cause/effect priniciple that every purchaser of, say, VIRALOID products has, so be it. It's akin to putting your head in the sand, but if you look at it as stricly business, it's too easy.
I hope a lot of people read this thread. The supplement industry is BUILT on exaggerated claims, suckering in first time lifters and naive people in general. And they supply cash to pro bodybuilders for endorsements, which in turn sells more product.
The only Business 101 you have to learn from Shawn (and this isn't a knock) is this:
"They're gonna pay me how much? For which picture in which ad? For how long?...thanks for the cash!"
...there's NO connection between the athelete's usage of a supplement and his endorsement, that's pretty obvious. If an athlete actually uses a product he endorses it's due to the fact it's usually free...and even then it sometimes isn't.
Musicians do this all the time. Zakk Wylde (if you know who he is) has gone so far as to use dummy amplifiers on stage that are his 'signature' amps from Marshall, but his actual sound is coming out of the same tried and true amps hidden backstage! Same goes with his effects.
It's all about dollars, people. And in Shawn's case, pride about his bodybuilding legacy. Hell, it was Shawn's ideas that got me to drop supplements altogether, and stick with whole foods! He knows what it's all about. Those who haven't gotten that through their heads yet need to wake up.
-
The advertising thAT is being done is just a way to promote products...if u think using vyotech will transform u the way shawn did then that's Your problem.
-
The advertising thAT is being done is just a way to promote products...if u think using vyotech will transform u the way shawn did then that's Your problem.
The pictures used in the Vyotech ads depicting a huge, ripped Sean Ray DO IMPLY THAT SEAN USED THOSE SUPPS TO GET THE WAY HE IS to the average mis-informed person. When I started seriously training and started reading the mags for tips and supp advice, I had no idea who Sean Ray was or that he didn't even compete anymore. All I saw were those pics of Sean, and the words written beside his picture. Those words escape me at this time, but all supplement ads say the same damn thing: This product helped me come in the best shape of my life and I did this and that and won this show or that show."
To the person buying a mag for the first time to someone totally new to the scene of bodybuilding, looking at those ads would make you think that the Pros endorsing the product used said product, got huge off of that product and recommend that product. To think otherwise is either turning a blind eye for the money (which I believe you are) or you're a fucking retarded guy.

He is so cute and cuddly
this picture of ray is still better than 90% of the bodybuilders walking on earth now days with 6% bf!!,,,i wouldnt show this picture as a bad one,,infact he never looked bad,, physiqe wize,, from what i remember,,one moment you guys see a picture of whats his name justin and you are all full of props,,then you see a pic of ray that is million times bigger and better muscle wize,,and you say it is bad,,,it is bad only because it is 9 out of 10 and not 10 out of 10 like you got used to from ray,,picture is exellent still and plenty of promoters would fight for him to guest pose in his time.
the fact bunch of morons are sitting here and trying to bring down one of the top of the top bodybuilders,,,and the fact he participate in this discussion,,god knows why,, shows to you that he takes things in a good funny way,,look at current champ how he decide youre all bunch of crapos and doesnt post here although he reads the forum!,,yes he reads it regularly
do you see arnold posting here?? do you see dorian? oh wait maybe you see good ole sergio actively participating and contributes regularly to the board since he is retired 100 years now,, or maybe labrada??? oh wait i think zane likes to post here a lot,,
give respect when due! you hear me right kamali ;) you cant talk about how you are better than ray when you cant present a physiqe that is better than cook's,,,insted of comparing yourself to luke which can be comparable (i have no doubt luke has all the tools to pass you by in no time) ...you compare yourself to the cherry on top of the whipcream on top of the cake i ate tonight,,this cherry is ray,,nubret and 10-11 others,,,nothing more

Ethical ambiguity is a wonderful thing.
I remember walking past a GNC and seeing a big cutout of Jay holding a can of some sort of supplement. My first thought was that company should've posted a disclaimer indicating that the muscular development of the athlete (Jay) shown can only be acheived by taking large quantities of anabolic steroids.

Did u believe that ?..jesus....I think is more along the lines of "part of his prep"

hey guys don't be so hard on shawn..I mean Vyotech worked for me..
I lost a total of 14 ounces while i used it..Most of the weight was from my wallet... ;D
-
And the rest is history as they say! ;D
Enjoy.
is there a literal Hall of Fame where people can visit? (Like in football and baseball)

If Shawn ever ended up in court when Vyotech gets sued for their type of advertising by a civil or regulatory action, hisarguement will be laughed at by the judge and deemed by the Federal Trade Commission Advertising Guideline for the Dietary Supplement Industry to be in the wrong and not in compliance with the FTC and even FDA laws. Get Rick Collins or Shane Freedman on your side Shawn. Oh, and read the FTC Guideline (you can download it from their site) and the FDA Draft Guidance for Substantiation too.
As a spokesperson, your bear (bare?) culpability.

Forget it, bro...you obviously dont get it and I dont have the time to explain it to you any more simple than I just did...
ha ha,

it is perfectly ok for an over the hill, out of shape ifbb pro to use pictures of his competitve hey day
and claim that a certain product (that wasn't even in existance at the time) was what built
their physique. i.e. IFBB pros will whore out there names/images/endoresements at the drop of a hat
if it provides a means of securing income.
-
So, when a Former Athlete signs a contract with comany endorsing products after their careers are over, they should not show pictures or film of their competive days when they were at their peak?
I guess I am naive ::)
Better inform Haney, Gaspari/ Gaspari Nutrition, Labrada/ Labrada Nutrition, Gerard Dente/ MHP and all the other Cat's out there with false advertisment :'(
Actually Shawn
naive would be giving you the benefit of the doubt,
I think think the word "liar" is more appropriate/
the question still remains, if you actually use your vyotech products (I doubt you've used a supplment in your life that wasn't smuggled in from Mexico)
then why don't you show your current pictures?

Really? Show me where they make the claim that Shawn used their product BEFORE they even had the product...
One of the most moronic posts I've seen...do you even understand what you write??

Show me where they make the claim that Shawn used their product
And define what the meaning of "is" is... ::)
-
Your points are off base...
No one (endorsed athlete included) is trying to give the impression "that if you take our products...you'll look like me..." Just that they will help you along the way and lend to achieving your goals.
chick,
you are so full of crap, poltically correct nonsense & smoke screens that you wouldn't recognize the truth it hit you on the head.
Supplement companies do not use images to say
"so and so gave his stamp of appoval on our products, and by the way this is what so and so looks like"
these companies use images for the simple purpose of misleading consumers into thinking that so and so's physique/appearance had
something to do with the supplement that they are hawking.
I hope this helps as it can't be explained in any simpler terms.
-
...and neither can THIS:
THE COMPANY DIDNT EXSIST WHEN THE PICTURES USED WERE TAKEN.
Only a complete idiot would believe thats what they're trying to pass off.....of course, that would explain why you're having such a hard time understanding.
Nevermind...I just answered my own question.
-

check out the vyotech commerical where Shawn proudly holds up his Arnold classic medal
and claims that to be #1 you need to use vytech supplements.
now why would Shawn attach a 1990 Arnold classic medal with a vyocrap product?
tell me Chick? what is your rationalization for that? I'm sure you have one.

Bob what do you think of people, not necessarily just Shawn, who endorse products that do not work or do not do what they claim? Supps, athletic apparel, etc. Do you feel that it is false advertisment? I realize they have to say these things but we know that Jeramy Freeman didn't put on 42 lbs in 50 days with Anator and the other Muscle Tech supps....know what I mean?

I see chick you are slowly putting the facts together, and now you are ready for this.
THATS WHAT MAKES VYOTECHS MARKETING EVEN MORE A FARCE THAN IT ALREADY IS
actually, only a complete idiot would buy a vyotech product because it was endoresed by shawn ray.
both you and Shawn seem to have difficulty with a simple question,
why can't they use current pictures of Shawn Ray if his competitive physique has nothing to do with vyotech products?
-
THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING DEBATE IN TENNIS FOR A LONG TIME NOW. THE PROS ENDORSE RAQUETS THAT ARE OLD CUSTOM MADE ONES OR EVEN PROTOTYPES THAT ARE PAINTED OVER TO LOOK LIKE THE NEW ONES. fALSE ADVERTISING? YES. BECAUSE THE COMPANIES NEVER EVER ADMIT THAT THEY MAKE SPECIAL STICKS JUST FOR THEIR GUYS . BUT TO CLAIM THAT U SEE FEDERER USING A WILSON 6.0 PRO STAFF AND U EXPECT TO WIN GRAND SLAMS IS JUST PLAIN IDIOTIC. SHAWN AND CHICK ARE RIGHT.
-

I'll answer for Bob (and remove the BS)
what are you and idiot?
false advertising does not exist in the supplment industry!
this practice of making outrageous claims has been done for
several years and that makes it ok.
-

There is an entire ad campaign coming out with CURRENT pictures of Shawn...using Vyotech supps.
Maybe now you can get some sleep...

no offense dudes..However, this topic is dead wood...We all know these supplemets don't do shit..It Has been proven time and time again...These supplements are simply marketing ploys to catch the newbies or very naive adults, who don't know that steroids are part of bodybuilding.. :P
Or those who want to believe..These Supplements are kind of like "religion"
They give hope to those with weak Minds and apparently weak bodies..
-
Chick: I ask you to consider the possibility that since you derive income from this practice and we don't, we might be in a better position to look at it objectively...
When a TV commercial shows some hot bitch leaning against a Lamborghini and pouring a Pepsi down her throat while she fellates the can, they're not claiming that drinking Pepsi will score you that ass. But that's the association that the advertiser has paid a lot of money to sneak into your mind. And "sneak" is the correct word - because obviously it won't hold up to a second of scrutiny.
So yes, the supplement companies' ads don't say "Our shit can make you look like this pro". But honesty would compel you to admit that this is the message they're trying to sneak into the minds of the desperate gym rats who keep them in business. Your insistence that the pro isn't responsible if anyone is stupid enough to believe it can never change the fact that it's not, you know, nice. In fact: in other contexts, making money by exploiting people's ignorance is called "fraud".
-
Shawn, you mean that you're using Kamali the same way that Donald Trump is using Rosie O'Donnell for publicity? (of course not to compare you to The Donald and Kamali to Rosie in any way.)
I think it would be safe to say that one can compare The King to Rosie O'Donnell. Easily!

i guess you don't want to answer the question about the 1990 arnold classic medal used in a vyotech ad
thats ok. i wasn't expecting much from you in the way of a substantial answer anyway.
i've heard of these vytech ads of shawn's before and after transformation that has been "supposed to come out soon" for
a while now. I'll believe it when I see it.
If/When it comes out, then Shawn can go to sleep knowing that he isn't as deceiving a spokeperson as he is now.

Gay for pay and Bogus supplements are what made bodybuilding what it is today.. :o

hahahahaaaaaaaaa!!! Funny how a "protein company" wants to use my dead boyfriends pic for their website. You seem a bit underknowledged...if that's even a word.
