Title: Doing cardio vs. Strict Diet to lose weight.
Post by: jumpstart on January 27, 2007, 03:50:16 PM
many hate doing cardio in order to lose the extra pounds so they focus more harder on dieting. Does this refer to your training?

no...doing "hammer curls" in shower first thing in the morning on an empty stomach to Stan's pictures doesn't count as cardio

hope this helps

I've always had excellent results losing bodyfat by keeping the rest time between sets to 45 seconds or less.   I only do this in the spring when I want to shed off the bodyfat I gain during the winter.  I also keep my meals nice and healthy.

when you cut calories you cut your building materials. you should do more work instead to make a deficit

you are missing the essence of what he is saying..

naturals can get by on minimal protein, don't fall for the crap about 1.5 grams/lb

he is saying to not cut your calories but increase the volume of your work out.

I can't believe it, but I actually concur with daddywaddy.

Doing cardio allows you to keep your calories up, and for me, that means less muscle loss. I can stay much fuller and stonger by busting out some cardio first thing in the morning, then eating normally all day. All while losing fat.

most people understand the feeding the muscle part with food..the other 1/2 gets lost in the translation..

"umm...cardio? what is that? can't I just watch TV instead?"

Cardio is much easier.  Especially for people who cant digest 6-8 meals a day that are clean and healthy. :-X  45 mins per session 3-4 days per week.  Simple.

I dont think doing some threadmill work is going to counteract the drugs' effects on the body so you can think about the usefulness of that

You dont need cardio, if  you are training hard during your resistance training (lifting heavy weight, using short rest periods, and challenging yourself everyday) then u will keep elevate your heart rate, and keep ur cardiovascular system healthy.

Just think about this, would u rather do an hour on the treadmill and burn 350 calories or just cut out 350 calories of junk from ur daily caloric intake. Which one is easier??? And tell me why the results would differ any from choosing option B insead of option A????????????

Just because people have been doing cardio for years doest mean that its right

This is true.

I agree with that most bodybuilders don't need cardio.  But very few people lack the discipline necessary to "eat clean" long enough to cut fat and lose very little muscle.

Look around most gyms in america and you see mostly two types of people

1. the fat slob, farely musuclar guy benching an average amount of weight but at 35+ BF, no one cares. So he has convinved himself that the is power lifting. Doing mostly 1/4 reps

2. The normal looking guy that swears he is Ronnie Coleman's twin walking around with next to nothing on. Put a tshirt on him and couldn't
tell that he works out.  Doing mostly 1/4 reps

3. Very seldom seen..that is the guy that has figured out a few things about him self and is making gains

for a natual lifter certainly, it is not possible to do no cardio and grow - you wouldnt be able to take on board enough calories to fuel muscle growth without doing cardio as you would turn into a fat ass. Or the other alternative is to eat like a bird, and stay lean without doing any cardio, and look like a POW camp victim - like somebody we know around here !!  ;)

yeah only if you over do it tho.

To really lose enogh calories by doing cardio you have to "over do it". Eating right is the way to go.
