try HMB i doubt its still legal though, Andreas Munzer used it.

I am no expert on these things but I do specifically recall reading a real study report on CLA (conjugated linoleic acid). What I basically rememeber (in simple terms) is that it reduces the creation of new fat in the body especially around areas like the abs. It does not reduce your fat but restricts the creation of fat in the body.
However it does take fairly high dosage of 3 - 4 grams per day. I do not believe that there were any significant side effects. Anyway there has been a lot reported on CLA and there is a lot of info on BodyBuilding.com at http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/cla.html

CLA is no overnight weight loss pill, even though it does work over a period of time w/no side effects.

Might be too potent for a newb, just stick to creatine in grape juice for now.
But in addition to other supplements while dieting you will see a difference when you take enough CLA. Really notice the healthy effects it has on your skin as well.
