Hey ladies,
My wife suffers from IBS (irratable bowel syndrom), and a sluggish stomach. She has always been in great shape untill about 2 years ago when she developed IBS. Pretty much everything bloats her stomach or constipates her. She keeps wanting to do all these crash diets and ends up failing because they are rediculous and really low calorie. She is getting frusterated because she works out HARD and then her deit messes everything up.
What kind of diets would you all suggest? I keep telling her to try and focus on calorie intake and over all healthy meals. She mostly cant eat any carbs(i.e., breads, pasta, oatmeal, etc or she gets extremly bloated) She will go from a flat stomach to looking 4 months pregnant. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you ladies.

My GF had it, changed jobs and it went away. Supposedly stress can severely agravate it, I guess that's why exercise is meant to help

Thanks but we tried that already. Nothing really has worked for her. She tried these herbal supps and they helped more than anything but you have to take about a feaking thousand pills a day.

. Nothing really has worked for her.
i'd see a specialist..my mum actually has uncerative colitis with IBS..in remission..
i have glossed over some studies which indicate that fishbody oils (omega 3s) help in the long run...
i'd still find and see a specialist..left untreated..it can in later life turn into something much worse..
seeing 1 doctor is NOT the answer..seek out and see a specialist..

This chicka from the UK who worked with me for awhile had it... and she was on this strict gluten-free, lactose-free, fructose-free diet. She said it was the only thing that worked.
Maybe your wife should work with a doctor on some kind of elimination diet plan, to see which foods she can't tolerate and which cause the most bloating.

I agree with smaul about the stress part but also maybe try a homeopathic doctor that they can give her a good colon cleanse. most of the body's problems start there.

I love that I addressed this topic to Hey ladies and M.A. responds! Hahaha, seriously though, thanks for the input. A homeopathic DR. might be good. Its about the only option left.

Hi King kol, I'm not a medical practitioner so i cannot give you medical advice of any sort.
I will say that it has been suggested that dairy products have been suspected of being connected with IBS. You describe her dilemma as presenting itself when she eats carbs. That leads me to suspect, she has an issue with wheat or gluten. Perhaps a brief period with out dairy, and eating only gluten free might help her to find relief, along with a diet high in fruit & vegetable fiber.
Hope That Helps
