Hey all,
I was recently told that its not a good idea to mix two different sources of protein in one meal, such as say chicken and red meat combined in one meal. I was wondering if anyone knows much about this theory. Any info would be appreciated.

That's baloney. It's great to get a good mix of proteins whether in one meal or different meals throughout the day

I thought so. I normally split my meal with 150g chicken and 150g mince red meat in the one meal. But i was told by a few guys in my gym that its no good to mix them. Thanks for the advice.

Yes, that is absolutely the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard of! It just flat out makes no sense at all! Different proteins do not fight for absorption - the only time protein fights for absorption is when you take in too much at one time, because your body can only assimilate so much at once. Therefore, mixing up your protein sources, with different digestion times is actually the best thing you can do, because your body will be able to assimilate the most of it! That's why mixing Whey and Cassein is a GOOD idea - you get a constant supply of amino acids over a longer period of time.

Have to agree you all. Ask any of the guys with top physiques the same question. You'll probably get a blank look from them. Great idea regarding the casein and whey mix. Always have that mix prior to bed.

There's nothing wrong with a little surf n' turf.

I have no idea where people get these "theories."
When you mix chicken and steak for exmple, you get a much better amino acid combination.

Yeah, well...
That'll just be their little secret. ;)
