Title: Americans and class
Post by: UK Gold on January 31, 2007, 01:20:27 PM
Why do so many Americans, most notably 'The True Adonis', think Mcdonalds is the height of culinary sophistication? I would have thought with the high immigrant population in the states there would be a plethora of fine eating establishments - British, French, Italian, Thai, Chinese etc.

Food from Mcdonalds tastes disgusting. Its greasy, unappeatising, tasteless garbage. I don't care if a 'big mac' has less calories than a chicken breast - it tastes DISGUSTING!

Alot of you have no class.

i don't think anyone on this planet thinks it's the height of culinary sophistication.  it's just a quick and cheap way to get your calories in, and you're guaranteed that the calorie/nutrient count's always gonna be the same.

btw, doesn't your wife plug you with dildos?

So many? like who? Adonis and who else? Besides little kids, most of us think Mc Donalds is the shittiest food you can eat.

That would be like me asking - "How come so many people in the UK have such yellow teeth they spit butter?"

It seems in all of 'Adonis's' ludicrous threads people are agreeing with him about the excellent cuisine to be found in mcdonalds.

I don't know where that is coming from, but trust me, it's unique to this place and not a general American thought process. Just as the thoery you can eat anything you want as a bodybuilder, a calorie is a calorie, etc.  You would be laughed out of any serious dicussion with many of the things stated in these threads.

Reality has beome somewhat distorted in this place. You can eat what you want, you only need to do two sets a week, everybody over 200lbs is on steroids etc ::)

There are plenty of great restaurants in the states; Italian, Chinese, Mexican, Thai, Brazilian, etc.

There aren't too many French or British ones though; most Americans hate the French and British food is too bland by our standards.

In my opinion, McDonalds is the pinnacle of shit food. When someone been real strict on their diet and wants to "cut lose", McDonalds sounds good cause it's about the worst thing you can eat. I think that's where its popularity in the BB community comes from.

UK Gold,

Adam is white trash, which also is compounded by the fact that he lives in North Carolina. Mc Donalds is dog food at best. There are the best restaraunts in the world in America, you just need to know where they are. Examples, Wendy's...Taco Bell....and places we call 'diners'

There are no superior chain restaurants - thats my point 'pumpster'. Meltdown
So basically you created this thread just to whine. You're also out of touch-McDonald's and others have been losing market share for a while, to outlets selling higher quality food. Au Bon Pain, Panera Bread, Cosi's, some of Arby's menu, etc.

The growth of the quick casual trend also prompted fast food restaurants to pick up the pace as the two competed for the same dollar. According to Technomic, quick casual restaurants have grown 15% over the past three years while fast food has only experienced an annual growth of 3%. For example, an increasing number of consumers are attracted to the likes of shops such as Panera Bread (Richmond Heights, Mo.), Cosi (New York City), and the corner Bakery (Dallas, Texas).

Quick casual outlets upped the ante by introducing ethnic cuisines, fresh ingredients and upscale items at a comparable price to fast food. The two huge trends in the quick casual segment have been in the bakery and fresh Mexican categories. "They are impacting quick service tremendously. Panera and Cosi have been growing 25% in the U.S. since 1999," says Joe Pawlak, a senior principle consultant at Technomic. "Arby's market fresh sandwich is a direst response to quick casual."

In all seriousness,

If your not dropping any thing less than 75 bucks or more on a meal (no wine) then your not eating good , i mean good food. You have to go to the cities to find quality restaurants.

Ps cheescake factory isnt quality hahaahahhah

Can you cook? Just because you are dropping at least  75 dollars for a meal does not mean it is qaulity or good. If you can cook or are from the South where people can "throw down" or "burn" in the kitchen can one know this.

Just because something is expensive does not mean it is of better quality. Example, Hyundai had (or has) a better quality rating than Mercedes.

The restaurants love you for this mistaken assumption. Don't have to spend anywhere near $75.

Think I just might have to take a ride down for some right about now :D Little corn, some of those mashed potatos and half a chicken should do! I suggest you do the same for dinner!
