I wonder why they let this racist drug abusing bastard in. Well I guess McGwire and Bonds should be a shoe-in on their third try.

Hypocrisy at its finest.

i think bonds needs to retire first ;)

Football HOF doesn't seem as concerned with off-field stuff, so a great player and clown like Irvin can get in sooner.
-
Noooooooooooo!!!!!! Irvin over Art Monk?? Irvin over Derrick Thomas? Irvin period?? I can't stand that crackhead.
-
Tippet did not get in this time, should next time! I hope so anyway!

irvin over art monk is a disgrace how many dicks did irvin suck ???

Irvin deserved it more than Monk. Monk's debatable for the HoF because he didn't have a lot of outstanding years in comparison with other great receivers, and the good years were dispersed amongst many ok years. Nor was he nearly as dominant as Irvin both in terms of production over a shorter period of time, and concerning intangibles; Irvin's persona was a big part of the Cowboy's success. Irvin's yards per catch was 2 1/2 yards higher over his career; he was obviously more dangerous on yards after catches, like TO.
Irvin was the 2nd best wide in the league behind Rice for years, Monk wasn't:

The all crack smoking hall of fame!

Tippet did not get in this time, should next time! I hope so anyway!
Joe Klecko should be in. The only man to be 1st team all pro at three positions. When he was healthy he toyed with offensive lineman.

This is true. The HoF makes sometimes gets it wrong in leaving out great players. His son on the Colts also has the same natural football intuition, as seen in the last few games.
Howie Long got in to the HoF as much for the exposure he had as for talent, while others like him didn't make it. Took way too much aggrevation to get Harry Carson in when he was one of the best MLBs of the 80s.

Monk was one of the best of his era. I believe he was second all time in receptions when he retired. He is currently 6th all time in receptions and 11th in receiving yards (Irvin is 20th and 14th). Irvin made the Pro Bowl 5 times, Monk 3 times. Irvin also had the advantage of playing with Aikman, Smith, Moose, Harper, Novacek, and one of the best O-lines in NFL history.
Theismann raves about Monk him too.

I posted the numbers. They were good but not completely compelling in terms of the HoF and other greats who might also deserve to be in. As far as high career totals, that can be misleading when it's a long career. Of course Joe would rave about him, by itself that's so biased as to be almost meaningless.

That's why you don't consider (and I didn't mention) Theismann's opinion by itself. That said, I value a player's opinion much more so than anyone who never played the game, which I believe includes some of the HOF voters?
Career numbers can be misleading, but another way to look at them is a player was very good over an extended period of time.
Also, I don't know how they justify Irvin over Derrick Thomas. Crazy. I might even put Andre Reed ahead of Irvin (but that may be my anti-Cowboy bias shining through).
