Leftists Move to Ban Childless Marriage
February 6, 2007
BEGIN TRANSCRIPT
RUSH: Did you people see this? It's from the state of Washington: "A ballot initiative filed by proponents," for those of you in Rio Linda, that means people who are for it, "of same-sex marriage would require heterosexual couples to have kids within three years or else have their marriage annulled. Initiative 957 was filed by the Washington Defense of Marriage Alliance. That group was formed last summer after the state Supreme Court upheld Washington's ban on same-sex marriage. Under the initiative, marriage would be limited to men and women who are able to have children. Couples would be required to prove they [are fertile] in order to get a marriage license, and if they did not have children within three years, their marriage would be [annulled]. 'For many years, social conservatives have claimed that marriage exists solely for the purpose of procreation ... The time has come for these conservatives to be dosed with their own medicine,' said WA-DOMA organizer Gregory Gadow in a printed statement. 'If same-sex couples should be barred from marriage because they cannot have children together, it follows that all couples who cannot or will not have children together should equally be barred from marriage.'" This will take off. The Drive-By Media will love this. So will leftist groups. Keep a sharp eye on this. It's exciting.

You topic title is inaccurate
Not necessarily. Leftist just means "radical." Although it can also mean "communist." But I applaud these people for using Rush tactics against the system to get heard. Seems like lately only the absurd makes it into the news.

Washington Defense of Marriage Alliance
An odd group, very extreme.
What I don't get is, why are we wasting time discussing what insignificat nutjobs do?
Think about it... this little group with no power puts out a silly bill that is obviously so stupid it doesn't deserve coverage in the local newspaper. BUT - Rush would rather legitimize it and debate it, and get his readers all riled up, than talk about:
1) the two wars we're losing
2) the $200 mil a day we're spending to lose these wars.
3) the 3000 dead or 2000 double amputees or 20,000 injured.
4) The war we're about to start in Iran
5) etc etc.
Instead, Rush uses his powerful platform to discuss an irrational, unreasonable bill which nobody defends and nobody takes seriously. Does Rush not want us to look at the important things?
