Title: Is Ronnie trying to go back in time?
Post by: El Diablo Blanco on February 09, 2007, 10:43:25 AM
The last few years Ronnie has been trying to get as big as he ever could and the flaws in his physique were evident , especially with the big belly.  Judging by the photos of him in FLEX it seems he is trying to get into the shape that started the whole Olympia run.  It would be a great way to bookend such a fantastic career.  I hope he comes into the Olympia, down a bit in weight, bone dry and freaky deaky.

remember this

1)ronnie is too old to get back in hsi 1998/1999 shape..how can a 43yr old man get back in his prime shape?not possible

2)alot of new talent is coming up..vic,phil,melvin etc..ronnie won't even stand chance

3)last but not the least he is injured.when tried to downsize for the grand prix,he ended up looking like crap.his injuries were more visible

conclusion:JUST RETIRE DAMMIT

Sorry Shadow, I have to disagree, Melvin, and Phil and "etc.." are not on Ronnie's level.  The only people that have a chance is Victor and Jay and I feel Victor is a long shot.  Though Ronnie will not be able to return to his 98/99 form because of the additional size he has still has the ablility to regain the grown but the gap he held over everyone has closed.

What Ronnie needs to do is refine his muscle and not worry about being as big as he has been for the last 2 years.  He already proved he can do it.  If he comes in clean, dry and not bloated the prize is his.

Victor has no facking chance of winning the Olympia as long as Ronnie and Jay are competing.

I thought Ronnie looked very good at the Dutch show, and in fact,I thought he beat Jay there.Again, why are Ronnies asymetry issues so large[lat tricep]but Jay having one leg three inches then the other no problem at all.

And you forgot the most important one.....he won 8 Sandows tying the record and he has his millions so i'm sure he really doesn't give a damn.

You might think. But you don't consider how central to their sense of self-worth being in the spotlight is for competitors at their level - in any sport.

And Ronnie was worse than most in this respect. Being Mr. Olympia was everything to him.

how can you say Vic,Phil, and Melvin wont even stand a chance against Ronnie, they never come close to beating him. Phil has never even been in an Olympia!
i do prefer their physiques over Ronnies however and if ihad it my way it would change.

He can't get back in time. Said it himself. His body changes and you just have to change with it. He's fine bringing an extra 5% of his 06 Olympia shape to this year's, which I hope he does. He'll still make the top 3. If he's any worse than last year, who knows.

That could happen to anyone anytime. My sister inlaw had a triple bypass at age 37. She never took drugs or ate anything bad.  :-\

Finally the IFBB realized that letting their incumbent lose would make it more interesting.

Ron's problem is that he really believes that he's so different from anyone else that he can overcome realities that catch up with anyone-age, injuries, wear, lack of the same response to drugs after so long. He's not realistic, i've seen it in his comments since the show.

Not really, he was not in the same situation sliding downhill, and was already considered one of the best thus he wasn't proving anyone wrong in winning.

Proved what? What a joke IFBB judging is?

Sorry to lay reality on you, but they've gotten all the plowing out of that draft horse that they need and now he's headed for the glue factory.

His back is fu#ked and soon the bill for 20 years of galactic steroid abuse will be presented for payment.

Yates recovered after '94 with his best physique ever in '95.  Although it may be harder for Ronnie since he didn't win the contest and all...
