Title: ARE BCAA'S ESSENTIAL OR CAN I LIVE WITHOUT THEM????
Post by: D.L. 5 on February 11, 2007, 04:12:11 AM
I don't know whether bcaa's are worth getting.

is it essential or will i get significant gains with them?

i really dont want to spend any more money on supplements i already have l-carnitine, protien powder, fish oil, multivitamin/minerals and eating alot of great clean food. (my aim is fat loss but also to build some solid strength and muscle...im not rushing the fat loss i want to keep my muscle and even gain some)

but sometimes the literature on bcaa's sounds so good i want to buy them....i am unsure. please help.

Lose the multivitamin and carnitine. carnitine only helps on no carb diets. better switch to green tea.

BCAA are a very good supplement. Just make sure more Leucine is contained than Valine and Isoleucine.

Best ratio would be per 100g:

- 50g Leucin
- 25g Isoleucin
- 25g Valin

Taken before cardio, BCAA help with fatloss, too.

by the way,

i finally woke up.... it is so much cheaper to just buy green tea tablets and just use normal instant coffee for the caffiene....and viola u dont need hydroxycut.

in regards to the aspirin....do i take that too or just leave it out? if so how many per day/how much?

Be careful on the aspirin. I would say take it only when you fell that your blood pressure goes up. try small doses and work yourself up if it doesn't help.

Do not take it over longer periods of time because it's hard on the stomach.

No problem, that's what the board is there for.

Well, personally i don't like to be on stimulants over a loger period because

A. i get nervous
B. i adopt very fast

and so the advantages vanish. Depending on how good you diet is, it is very cheap and effective to use stimulants like green tea and caffeine to boost your metabolism for a week and then get off, eat clean and healthy for a week and then boost again.
I have good resutls with that.

If you tend to get tires all the time and can stand caffeine very good, you can use the combo green tea and caffeine over a long period, several weeks. the problem is you will need higher and higher doses but you will not burn more fat.

Third possible method, if you are on a very low calorie diet, is to take it before workout to boost your energy. This way you will be able to perform better and thus burn more calories.

4th possibily is to only take it on non workout days, when you are sitting in the office all day and not move very much. This way you will burn more calories while doing nothing.

great advice.

thanks donkeykong.

i think i will go one week on, one week off. but do high doses of caffiene (maybe even go above 600 mg per day!) thermoshred by muscle tech has 900 mg per day fo caffiene which is very high...no wonder why i couldnt sleep some nites.

so i will go 500 mg green tea and 300 mg caffiene (from coffee in water which is about four teaspoon of coffee) twice per day...and maybe if i feel like it i will increase to 450 mg caffiene.

wat do u think?

Lose the multivitamin

I disagree.

I think EVERYONE should be on a multi.

I think you're better off having vegetables and fruit.  All the minerals and vitamins in the multi's interfere with each other for absorption and you just end up peeing away money!

Thanks, smaul.

Finally someone got it.

Multis are shit. If you need vitamins, take them apart from each other. Same goes for minerals.

You would have to take a multi with very low dosage 3-4 times a day if you wanted the effects.

Multvitamins are WAAAAAYYY overrated.

They're not worthless, but relatively expensive versus the benefits IMO.  I put them in a "use occasionally" category.

I'd keep the multi and lose the carnitine.

I tried the BCAA's for 3 months but didn't see any real benefits so maybe they just weren't for me.

I would recommend having creatine, glutamine and possibly arginine in there though.

I can't tell the difference when I'm using multi's or not. So I've come to the conclusion that I won't buy them anymore and save a few bucks.

as i said before, with BCAA the ratio is very important.

it should be (per 100g)

50g leucine
25 isoleucine
25g valine

Yes, a multi is not necessary.

I had Reflex ones:
250mg leucine
125mg isoleucine
125mg valine
0.2mg Vit B6

but I didn't relly feel any different while I was taking them.  I've still got 400 tabs left, so I don't really know whether to use them or not?

Sure, why not? throw them away instead?

take them after workout WITH other amino acids, never alone. then 30mins after that a protein shake.

BCAA are great for regeneration.

I've been trying to flog them on eBay!  As well as some horrendous vanilla weight gain I got.

How many would you recommend taking?

I hope so.  I had an adverse reaction to some medication two weeks ago, could only eat once a day and couldn't train.  Lost 6lbs in a week, so I feel weak as shit at the moment.

BCAAs are great! esp post workout or other miserable hard work. Pricey though.
Frankly I think 6-10 of them (anything same as Pro-Source's mix ratio) as good as smallest tabs
of stanozolol or primobolan. Anticatobolic for sure.
