Are you sure this a case of 'reverse racism'? Looks to me like they were following guidelines already laid out.

I agree the sentence sucks, ...and I doubt "house arrest" is the appropriate rehabilitative environment for them to begin with. They clearly learned their unacceptable behaviour at home to begin with.

Based on what I read, ..there's no doubt in my mind that was a hate crime. The sentence would have been much different had I been presiding over that one.

An obvious hate crime. What if the victims were black and the attackers something else? Then I bet they would be locked up for a very long time and justice would be served, but it didn't happen in this case. I guess black people are not capable of racism in the eyes of that judge.

According to the article, the sentencing was carried out accoring to Juvenile sentencing guidelines, and various legal experts concurred. Personally, I don't give a crap how many experts think it was appropriate, they got a slap on the wrist imo. they're luck I wasn't the judge.

Does anyone know if there is a provision for hate crime within the juvenile sentencing codes?
