Try the March issue of Consumer Reports, at a library or bookstore. For 37" they liked Toshiba REGZA37LX96, Magnavox 37MF231D, HP LC3760N. They give the Olevia 42" 542i a Best Buy at $1300. Most people wish they had gotten a bigger set. Make sure 37 is what you want.

Sharp is fucking garbage.

I can't tell you how many customer's houses I've been to and they ask me if I can adjust the color because the picture is washed out.

My response?..................."You shouldn't have bought a Sharp."

My brother actually just bought a Polaroid and it looks pretty good. Of course he had to run to the Cablevision store to get a 1080 receiver. ESPN hd is awesome!

Talk to"ieffinhatecardio ". He helped me pick out a 40 inch Sony bravia xbr. The thing is sick, and I could not be happier. Full 1080p with all the outputs, etc. I spent a little more then I wanted to, but it was worth it.The 1080 Bravia models are very nice.

Is their any truth to these LCD's and Plasmas being like protein powder...Meaning that actually only a couple of places manufacture these things and then companies just put their names and covers on them?

Nice.... I have the 40 inch xbr in my living room. I plan to buy another tv at the end of this year for my bedroom. The WEGA has a superior picture? Do you know anything about that new hd/blue ray dvd player? I want to buy one.

My 36 WEGA is a regular 4:3 TV. not a flat screen.

It looks unreal in HD, kills my other sets.

Blu ray is uncompressed full 1080P video with 8 channel 32bit sound. it is beautiful.

Prices are coming down a bit, Samsung has one for around 600 now

For money, Panasonic makes a solid TV.

I don't know if they make a 37.

I know both have advantages and disadvantages compared to each other but which do you prefer LCD or Plasma?

Plasma has a bad rap with burn in and short life span.

Why only a 37"?

For whoever said Sharp is bad is a fucking moron.

The Sharp Aquos LCDs are the best on the market, hands down.

The reason you say the one you saw was shitty was likely becuase one 42" and the smaller ones is made by a different Korean company! That's what you get for buying a cheapie.

You want quality, you gotta pay for it.

I see them ALL. Every brand, every day. It's what I do for a living.

To my eyes (and a lot of other professionals) the Sharps look washed out

What are your thoughts on Sony's SXRD?

I am debating between that and Samsung's DLP....

To me, the SXRD looks better, but it does cost a tad more.

I only have room for a 37" in my cabinet. I would have to move all my audio shit and about 500 cds. It would really be a pain in the ass.

The Beef  agrees whole heartedly. The Beef bought a 60 inch plasma two years ago . . .  it was their floor model ( clearing it out ) not a thing wrong with it . . . $1200 off!

The Beef digs his plasma.

SXRD was Sony's answer to Texas Instruments DLP chip.

Good technology but nothing groundbreaking.

As a matter of fact, a LOT of Japanese engineers got canned because of the DLP chips.  The bean counters were pissed they got one-upped technologically
