One of the top size builders; as good or better than free weight curls. I made the switch years ago and never do free weight curls anymore. Not as exhausting or hard on the back either. Very under-rated due the obsession many BBs have with free weights and the misperception that cables are only for refining.

Keep your arms in front of you, dug into & anchored on your sides. Removes most of the pressure on the front delts and puts it on the bis. Or use an arm blaster. Cheat a little at the end of sets.

My second exercise is bar cable curls. In terms of adding bulk throughout the entire biceps muscle, I find this movement to be superior (for reasons outlined previously) to the standard barbell curl.

The execution is along the same lines as that used with one arm cable curls; I maintain pressure on the biceps throughout the completion of each set and hold the weight in the midpoint position for a peak contraction. However, for the concluding tow sets, but only at every other session, I go past failure and finish the set with two or three forced reps. Just for the sake of variety, I'll substitute rope cable curls for the bar cable version twice a month.

Hey pumpster how long do you think it will be until "JPM" chimes in with how him and his training "buds" do partial power rack barbell curls with 550 pounds?

Yea, I'm gonna use these too.  I think the constant tension will do wonders.  I find these and preacher curls to work better for my arms than BB curls. Most guys I see trying to curl alot and they turn into a power clean or they just use the EZ curl bars and just have good brachialis.

If you want mass you need to do 60% cable moves and 40% freeweights..  The really big guys call it the 60/40..

Creatine and yeast before and after the 60/40 should do the trick..

Interesting but where did that ratio come from?

Interesting but what theory did you use for this ratio?

I got it from a cooking show..  Just look what yeast does to a cake in the oven..  Just imagine what it can do to your body..   60/40 ratio warms the body to oven-like temperatures..

This sounds like another wacky "jpm" theory.  ;) "good luck"

cables are great for biceps and triceps. but i think dumbells are superior to both barbells or cables.  one arm preacher curls done on a incline bench is one of the best exersizes there is for bis  standing dumbell curls concentration curls and hammer curls..

I think dumbells work well also buffbong but alot of people go to heavy and cheat to much with them. The constant pressure that cables put on the biceps work wonders.

Yes, I always incorporate one-arm cable curls at teh tailend of my biceps workout.   An excellent finisher after the free weight movements.
