Title: Calories burned while lifting?
Post by: BigNBloated on February 25, 2007, 05:23:39 PM
How many calories does someone burn during a weightlifting session, say 16 sets of a bodypart? I know it depends on intensity and many other factors but lets say on average.

I used to average it to about 300 cals per session just to keep things simple

You don't burn very many calories lifting weights, simply because it doesn't take very much energy to move a weight a small distance, and most lifters spend more times resting than lifting during a session.

BULLSHIT

It isn't. You might get tired but the amount of energy you use isn't very much.

Well typically im lifting pretty high intensity with very little rest in between sets. Just trying to figure it in and see how my calorie intake and cardio+lifting change my physique. Wanted to get an idea of what adjustment to make.
