Title: Taliban assassination attempt on Cheney
Post by: ribonucleic on February 27, 2007, 09:56:12 AM
From their point of view, surely a coup de grace: showing their firepower and fanaticism within earshot of the vice-president. All that was needed was for the veep to be trapped by a snowstorm for one night for the enemy to act. It certainly helps justify the extraordinary secrecy the secret service deployed for the trips to Pakistan and Afghanistan; but it also helps justify mounting concern that we are losing traction in the war against the Talbian in the region.

Was that the same Pentagon spokesman who denied that the helicopters had been shot down?  ::)

"The important point here is that when the Emperor Vice-President travels to a Middle Eastern country at war, the level of security is almost beyond imagining. It should tell you a great deal about how much “control” we have that they got within the gates with this one."

As usual u have no idea what ur talking about. Since u have never been to Bagram and have no idea what the area looks like and what really happened. Every base has a gate that anybody can drive or walk up to. The suicide bomber drove up to ECP1 where all trucks and local national vehicles have to roll into to be inspected. He detonated there. He was never going to get close to Cheney or inside the main gate.

It's also been reported that Cheney's visit there wasn't announced prior,  therefor may have not known he was even there.

There seem to be only three possibilities:

1. Out of the thousands of possibilities for attacking a given base on a given day, the Taliban just happened to hit the jackpot by getting the base and day when the VP was in town.

2. They knew full well he was there and the Pentagon is lying. [Yeah, I know - clearly impossible.  ::) ]

3. Their attacks are so frequent and widespread that there would bound to be one whenever and wherever Cheney showed up.

There seem to be only three possibilities:

1. By an astonishing coincidence, they attacked a particular base on a particular day when a US Vice-President was in town.

2. They knew full well he was there and the Pentagon is lying. [Yeah, I know - clearly impossible.  ::) ]

3. Their attacks are so frequent and widespread that there would bound to be one whenever and wherever Cheney showed up.

Why does it not surprise me that you would believe the Taliban before the Pentagon?  You're like so, enlightened.

The Taliban hasn't been exposed in a lie this month. The Pentagon has. [see Helicopters, Shot Down, Cover Up]

Hope this helps.

hahahaha!!

Also that Douglas Feith cherrypicking intel to write "The Iraq-911 connection" being explosed by the pentagon itself as bullshit, didn't hurt.

One wag on Metafilter observes that this is the closest Cheney has ever come to combat.  ;D

A second wag wonders if Bush would assume command if Cheney dies.  ;D

Libs have been so mindfvcked by leftwing idealogy that they don't even realize that their default position on every issue is the anti-American one.

Ribo strikes me as the type of guy who went to Socialist summer camp as a kid. There, he sat around the campfire with his pimple-faced little comrades and read excerpts from "The Communist Manifesto" to each other.

He heard a loud boom.

I suppose he can now trade war stories with the men in the field.

Dude- it is about keeping your own folks accountable so they don't break the law, lie, or get sloppy.  I don't give a shit what other people's kids do.. but I sure care what my kids eat, drink, exercise, sleep, etc etc.  See?  If my leaders are lying, they need to be pointed out so they stop doing it.  Or so people elect new folks who won't lie.

On the other end, neocons have been so brainwashed to blindly believe anything bush says, they ignore facts which contradict him.

For example:

Can you admit the Pentagon lied about the helicopter incident this month?

There's an old saying that the first casualty of war is the truth. I'm sure the Pentagon has lied many times.

That doesn't mean the left isn't anti-American.

part of america IS the left.

It's like saying your finger hates your hand.  It's part of it.

And the repubs were just as hard on clinton for less (I know i was) for a blowjob and a few small skirmishes.  Bush has started 1, 2, maybe 3 losing wars, ignored 911 intel at the least, spending 200 mil A DAY in iraq, etc.

Being pissed about that isn't anti-american.  It's anti-abuses.

On one hand you say Bush is a dictator; on the other, you say that Cheney is running things.

Which one is it?

Excellent question.

We won't know for sure until 2010 when Condi tries to rehabilitate her image by publishing her "candid" memoir - a la Stephanopolous.

But until then, there's more than enough heinous shit between them to warrant dual impeachment.
