I don't know if this has been covered before but the News War edition of Frontline on PBS was fantastic. It covered many issues and covered both sides of the issue. It's not a bash Bush piece. It raised critical questions from both perspectives. For anyone that hasn't seen it you can view it on the link below. Fascinating stuff.

part one: so the administration was feeding info to The Times and then Cheney was out referencing the story they secretly fed The Times to help build the case for war with Iraq.... nice... I think I would shoot myself in the face before lowering myself to such unethical means....

I found the parallel to Nixon trying to quash the NY TImes interesting as hell. The situation isn't 100% analogous but it was interesting all the same.
The question of should the Times have published the story is a good one. It was a tough call and I can see both sides but I think it might be a bit unreasonable to expect them to kill the story. It was too big.

well that was anticlimactic. But there is a part II and then a Part III so Part I was mostly setting up the basics. Now on to part II ;D
