When did this happen and who was responsible?
"Dispatches were sent by couriers to all the king's provinces with the order to destroy, kill and annihilate all the Jews—young and old, women and little children—on a single day, the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, the month of Adar, and to plunder their goods."

Book of Esther? Didn't the king allow Hamman to make the decree?

STella, you are correct. This happened during the time of the Persian Empire, during the rule of King Xerxes. And people today think that hatred for the Jews goes only as far as World War II.
The Jews are God's chosen people. God loves them. Satan hates them and wants to annihilate them.

The movie itself is based on the graphic novel "300". The graphic novel is based on Battle of Thermopylae. The graphic novel added a lot of fantasy to the historic battle, but it's a great story. 300 Spartans fought to the death King Xerxes and his 100,000 to 1 million Persians.
