SLAM! Wrestling out of Canada is reporting that former WWF star Bad News Brown has passed away. Here is the article:
Bad News Allen dies suddenly
Former Olympic judo bronze medalist Allen Coage -- better known to wrestling fans as Bad News Allen and Bad News Brown -- has died suddenly. He was 63.
Coage died early Tuesday morning in Calgary at Rockyview Hospital, having been rushed to the hospital, complaining of chest pains.
Three weeks ago, Coage underwent hip replacement surgery and had been making progress on his recovery. Monday night, he was home alone and called longtime friend Gerry Morrow, complaining of chest pains. Morrow got him to the hospital.
Coage broke into professional wrestling through the New Japan Pro Wrestling organization, training in Japan and spending the first few years after the 1976 Montreal Olympics in that country.
He was a star in the Calgary Stampede promotion as Bad News Allen, having bloody feuds with the likes of The Dynamite Kid, Archie 'The Stomper' Gouldie, Bret Hart and others.
In the WWF of the late 1980s, he was known as Bad News Brown, and feuded with Bret Hart, Hulk Hogan and Roddy Piper.
He had been working the last number of years as a security guard at a mall; "Teenagers are a pain in the ass. You always have to run them off," he said in July 2006. Apparently they didn't know who they were messing with. "It don’t matter to them, they're tough."
Coage is survived by his wife Helen and their children.

RIP.
63 is still a good age. For a wrestler.

Must have been the world's oldest ex-WWF wrestler then - I haven't heard of one passing the age of 60 yet.

Right.
Lately, it's been all 30 to 40 somethings, that have passed away.
I'm telling you folks, that's a tough living.
Wrestlers have no off-season. They are literally breaking their backs 300+ days a year. Then, you add in painkillers and party drugs to the daily car-crash-like abuse your body takes, and it is a recipe for early death.

RIP.
I watched him all the time as a kid. I had no clue he was in Calgary, only a three hour drive away from me. Was he actually living in Calgary?? Too bad he had to spend his last days working in a mall. I would have driven a fair ways to a mall if I knew I could see him working there.
-
didn't he have some "mutated sewer rats" when he fueded with Jake the Snake or something like that.
RIP-good character for the time period.

he was a pussy!

Actually he was a legit tough guy and could kick ass outside the ring. I think his best years were with Stampede, I remember watching him wrestle Bret Hart before Bret started cranking and was skinny as a rail. Back then they would wrestle in the Agridome in Vancouver with maybe 2500 fans.
When McMahon bought out Stu Hart the wrestlers made some decent money, obviously not enough if he was doing mall security.

Thats some BAD NEWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!RIP

how do you know he was a real tough guy? did you see him fight? wheres the proof?

A good friend of mine jobbed for Stampede when they'd come to town so he had a few stories. It's also mentioned in a few books about Stampede. I worked a number of clubs in Vancouver back in the day and the wrestlers would come in. Sometimes they'd be approached/challenged.
But I have no proof as in no tangible evidence. Just Grampa Simpson proof " In my day all the wrestlers came to Club....."

Nice job derailing a serious thread with your typically trite bullshit posts.

He was a legit bronze medalist in the olympics....I know a few national level Judo heavyweights ( not even close to olympic level) and they are not push overs.
