That was the original plan, but so gay is Shadow, that he made the producers enact a sick and disgusting scenario, which involved them bribing a big, well hung mulatto man working in a ship, so that he could agree and act accordingly when Shadow approached him to fulfil a lifelong fantasy - being the guy's sex slave in exchange for a passage to America. Hahahahahaha gayer than being worried about the dangers of secondhand smoke.
