Title: Juat watched the 1993 Olympia video...deepest lineup in history
Post by: Parker on March 10, 2007, 06:55:49 PM
Top six all are BBing Hall of Famers, or will be

Dorian Yates
Flex Wheeler
Shawn Ray
Lee Lebrada
Kevin Levrone
Paul Dillett

There has never been a top six that deep and that good. Period.

Flex never believed in himself...pure insecurity with his statement. Dorian, thought Flex was his biggest (not physically, that would be Dillett) threat, there is a reason...

On pure aethestics Flex should have won the Olympia. But the O is a freak show, so Flex would never have won, except in 1998.

Forget the top 6, the whole top 10 looked fucking amazing.

Charles Clairmonte was unbelievable.

No Flex knew the rality of the situation in 1993 he was the victim of to many contests and his conditioning suffered for it at the Olympia and you can't blame him for entering a lot of contests he just turned pro and realized his dream of making a living at the sport , but at the Olympia his conditioning suffered and he paid the price and he wasn't as sharp as Shawn Ray and the general consensus was Flex should have been third but his superior structure and shape beat a sharper Ray

from an aesthetics standpoint Flex was Mr Olympia all the way but there is other criteria and Dorian met that better than everyone.

True, true. Flex is what what I would like to look like. And Flex looks like he could walk up a thre flights of stairs and jog back down to his car without getting a heart attack. Dorian looked great, but...the term "all drugs' pops  to mind (same can be easily said about Flex)

The O is always "the freakiest will win".

I don't think it had anything to do with Freakiness in 93.

Dorian was just flat out better. He was more muscular and better conditioned.

If he was bigger than flex but less conditioned (ala Ronnie 2003) I could understand your argument, but really Flex was not even close in 93.

I have notice that the the majority of of the top 3 in the modern day Olympia tend to be of the Freak variety. If Flex had won in 1998, he would have f'd himself up completely trying to go the freak route. Trying to continously gained 10-20 pounds untill he would a 280 pound sack of muscke-with no shape. Like Ronnie has done, and like Dorian did.

Flex looks like a cartoon character.....but he looks puffed to the gills with oil :-\

I hated that version of Flex. It is almost like he threw in the towel and started listening to Chad >:(. I predict the same will happen to Melvin, since Melvin is like a carbon copy of Flex. Chad will try to get Melvin in the 255 range and destroy his shape.
