1) How many miles (or minutes driving) is your gym from your house?
2) Would you choose a very nice gym that was further away, or a crappy gym much closer to home?
thanks
-
1) 1 mile
2) I'd go further for a very nice gym
-
45 min bus
-
10 min. by car.
-
1.5 miles
My gym choice depends much more on cost than distance.

My gym is IN my house.
If you can afford the cost of proper equipment and setup, this is always the best way to go. Even "Convict Craig" Titus knew this.
Unless, of course, you'd miss the "locker room experience" like Slippy would. ::)

3 blocks.
Or...if I go to a 'chain type gym' as I do once in a while then it's a 20min drive.

I am less that 1 mile, however I have been members of gyms in the past that were much further and I would drive past lesser gyms just to get to them from my house. Atmosphere and equipment are everything.
On weekends I actually make the 15 mile drive to Golds Venice just for a change

3 mins by car. xport in chi town.

You must lack discipline. :-\

Two minutes walk from my workplace.
Which is ten miles from home.

Bullshit. It's a widely known fact that no "elder" on the X has stepped foot in a gym in the last 5 years, let alone worked out.
-
7 minutes walk down the hill

Must be nice on Squad day to get back up the hill :D

Yeah...Coming from a 12 year old I am sure that hurts...

I'm trying to decide what to do. New place - 2100 sq feet and a nice garage I can populate with gym equipment if I want.
Or a very crappy gym 8 minutes away.
Or a very nice, very small gym 8 minutes away.
Or a huge Golds - 15 minutes away.
-
Go for the home gym. If I had that option I'd go for it every time. You'll avoid having to share your weights with guys who don't treat the place with respect.
-
I live in the country so it takes me 30-45 minutes to get to the gym it all depends if If I get stuck behind a log truck or not. In total it's about 35 miles.

No not really it's just hard for me... I like to have an easy life, I need to kick my ass once a month to get back on track.
So yes having all the "good" things right beside when I train would not be a good thing, I like to go to a gym and concider that "work" hence workout.
-
240 is it even a consideration? 15 mins is not that long : )
-
