New unreleased e-mails from top administration officials show that the idea of firing all 93 U.S. attorneys was raised by White House adviser Karl Rove in early January 2005, indicating Rove was more involved in the plan than the White House previously acknowledged.
The e-mails also show that Attorney General Alberto Gonzales discussed the idea of firing the attorneys en masse weeks before he was confirmed as attorney general.
The e-mails directly contradict White House assertions that the notion originated with recently departed White House counsel Harriet Miers, and was her idea alone.

At this point, Bush supporters have 2 choices:
1) Close this thread.
2) Defend this lie, and attack ribo's personality instead of this information

Exposing the truth...traitor

"It's not a felony to perjure yourself before Congress if there's no underlying crime" seems to be in vogue at the moment. ::)
EDIT: Oh, wait. That was the other lie! My bad! ;D

What is it the conservatives on this board say? Oh yeah,
CRICKETS

YAWN. Big deal. Presidents fire US attorneys en mass all the time.

And when their Attorney Generals lie to Congress about it, it's a felony.
How did you guys ever get to be associated with the phrase "law and order", anyway? :)
EDIT: Correction... it was Gonzo's chief aide - since served up as meat to the closing wolves - that lied under oath to Congress.
I'm sure Tortureboy was shocked - shocked! - to find out it had happened. ::)
-
Gonzales should be fired . . . . he overplayed his hand like an amateur and lost. Now, he should leave the table.

If he lied to Congress he should be fired. Congress will investigate. I'll make up my mind after the facts come in. In the meantime: YAWN.

Bush has expressed total confidence in him.
Translation: He'll be lucky to last until April.

::) Impeachment... This is over... These guys all bury the wrongs of all past administrations combined.

It's amazing that not one conservative on this board seems to care about this issue.
Yet it's a pretty safe bet that if this was a Democratic Administration in the White House these same conservatives would be screaming for the AG's head.

republicans might start piling on, tomorrow morning.
gonzalez and the white house lied.
what a pathetic bunch in there. Repubs/neos, at least man up and admit this email proves they lied. have some credibility and decency for god's sake.

yawn???????????????? :-\
It's pretty funny to see the neocons' bullshit falling apart. They've broken a lot of rules, exaggerated and lied, and suddenly the world sees it.
Seriously, does anyone still believe Bush is a credible man at this point?

yawn???????????????? :-\
Yes. Unless the guy lied, the firing of U.S. Attorneys isn't news.

By DAVID JOHNSTON,
Published: March 24, 1993
Attorney General Janet Reno today demanded the prompt resignation of all United States Attorneys, leading the Federal prosecutor in the District of Columbia to suggest that the order could be tied to his long-running investigation of Representative Dan Rostenkowski, a crucial ally of President Clinton.

He did lie. Myers didn't start it, Rove did. White House lied to America. I know this might SHOCK some people here.

Bwahhahhhahaaaa.
There's nothing like a bury his head in the sand neotaint for blindly following party line bullschit. It's literally comical watching them dismiss and or ignore all of Bush's blunders. ;D

Uhm, yea, acutally he did lie... What part of that aren't you getting? He said he was kept in the dark on this. said he couldn't be aware of all that was going on in the department but then... Rove, Gonzales discussed firings, e-mails show (http://www.cnn.com/2007/POLITICS/03/16/fired.attorneys/index.html?section=cnn_latest) even beyond lying, doesn't it bother you that they targeted prosecuters that went after Jack Abermoff and Duke Cunningham? So what's this say, if you prosecute a republican, it's your job... I don't give a shit if Clinton did it... If he did it like this, it's just as wrong. I'm never for that reasoning of so and so did it for justification. It's either right or wrong, it's not right because someone else got away with it.

YAWN again. Like I said, if someone lied to Congress, they should be fired. I'll wait till all the facts come before drawing that conclusion. But if the issue is whether there was an order to fire U.S. Attorneys, I could care less. Happens all the time.

For political reasons and to prevent prosecutions of republicans? That happens all the time? He said he wasn't involved, that it was his second that handled the firings. Pretty much painted himself as out of the loop, then e-mails surfaced showing that's not true... That's a lie to congress.
-
Clinton and Bush I fired EVERY fed judge upon entry.
This is different because it was done in the MIDDLE of the term, selectively based upon whether or not they would comply with requests to investigate dems, etc. Many cases would have been disrupted.
PLUS - the issue here is that the White House LIED TO US ABOUT MYERS being the one behind it. IT WAS ROVE.
Now, BB, let's get it straight. You said if a person lies to congress he should be fired - what if that person lied to AMERICA?
-

They're always fired for political reasons. In fact, that's usually the only reason they're fired.
No they shouldn't be fired to prevent legitimate prosecutions of criminal activity.
You've reached your conclusion. I haven't.
