Title: Ive deduced that machine leg curls dont put on muscle
Post by: Royalty on March 16, 2007, 07:12:13 AM
squats, leg presses, hack squats, stiff-legged deadlifts, dumbell leg curls, and lunges put on hamstring mass.

machine leg curls may strengthen the knee joint, but they dont seem to do anything for the leg biceps

If you're lacking in hams anyway? Why not stick to the text book mass builders anyway?

I feel the same way about leg extensions..  >:(

I agree, i think leg curls/extensions are more for the shaping of the muscles.  i wish that there was more of a free weights for hams..

Try doing a db hamstring curl on a regular bench:

Hold the DB in between your feet (have someone put it there) while lying face down on a bench with your knees bent.  Then bring the DB down til your legs are straight (lying face down) and then curl the DB back up

Or , for a good bodyweight exersise, kneel on a mat like your praying, have someone hold down your heels, and slowly lower your body to the ground (or as far as you can go while still being able to pull yourself up) and then back up again.

Also depends on the design of the leg curl machine. Well designed it's effective.

good for glutes and hams.....I like doing them.

I think that a person should have big quads and big glutes. Those are two of the biggest muscles on the human body along with lats and traps.
