Since Vince Taylor can compete in the IFBB and pose for NABBA, this opens it up for everyone. So, I am announcing that I will compete in the IFBB show in Dallas so all my hometown Texas fans can see me, and I will compete in PDI in the fall.
I would also like all the NPC promoters who have contacted me about guest posing for them, to get back in touch with me because now I can appear at your show.
By the way, this is on the advice from my attorney.

Interesting, Lee, but do you think any NPC promoter will stick his neck out and invite you as a guest poser without fearing repercussions?
Can you please bring me up to date on the Vince Taylor situation? I am not knowledgeable about his situation but I suspect that the IFBB considered his case and pardoned him in some way.
This could develop into a very interesting legal situation which could possibly be the straw that breaks the IFBB's refusal to allow IFBB members to participate in other BB organization events.
I can understand the IFBB's policy in this matter, but I am standing on the middle of the fence regarding its legality.
Has this subject ever been tried in court before?
There was a court case back in the 70's that decided that NPC (amateur) athletes could not be barred from competing in other organizations but this court decision did not apply to IFBB (professional) athletes. I have a strong suspecion that this question on the pro side was never addressed in court at that time, but I am not totally knowledgeable about this part of the court proceeedings.
It might be of interest to your attorney though. And maybe someone on this Board can offer the specific details of that court case or simply how to research it here on the internet.
Thanks for keeping us updated, Lee. Been a fan of yours since I first met ya while guest posing way back when in Hawaii.

What possible repercussions could a promoter face? Answer: None. Neither the NPC nor IFBB have control over who guests poses at local/state events.

You're wrong there, Batfreak.
The NPC could definitely refuse to offer an NPC sanction (or even possibly concel a sanction) to any promoter who invites non-IFBB or even non-NPC personnel to participate in "any capacity".
But whether or not they enforce that is up for question.

Interesting. I was hoping for this type of response. Is this written in the sanction/contract language? If so I would like to see this document. I realize that all athletes, judges and test judges must be NPC registered in order to participate in an event....but the guest poser too? What about the previous years winner brought back to guest pose? Does the promoter need NPC approval? I have never seen it indicated. What about the impromptu "posedowns" that sometimes happen? Liability is the reason for having all athletes, judges, etc NPC registered....but where is the line drawn? I have not seen where a promoter of an NPC sanctioned contest must get permission for the choice of guest poser.

Bat, I'm unable to answer yor question about the curent sanction or contract, but I do recall reading "memos" stating that participants must be current NPC or IFBB members in all NPC events.
You might want to ask Bob Chick for those details, but to the best of my knowledge all contestants and guest posers must be affiliated with the NPC or the IFBB. And that affiliation requirement just might even extend down to the MC and trophy presenters, but I am not sure about that last statement.
I tend to agree with this NPC/IFBB affiliation requirement for a number of reasons (saving this for a future post), but the legality of it could be on the borderline and a good opportunity for a lawyer to make lots of money.
It will be interesting if Lee pursues this, but the first step would be for an NPC promoter to invite an "outsider" to participate which I don't think any NPC member/promoter will do. Why make waves when the sea is rough enough in the first place?
I have to state once again, that I tend to agree with the IFBB/NPC policy regarding "outside participants" and this just might be an interesting topic to pursue.

Any NPC promoter can choose anyone they wish as a guest poser...within our circle of pro's and amateurs, or course when it comes to athletes. Outside talent would be people outside our industry, which isn't limited.
If you're under suspention, then no one will pick you up to guest pose....that's part of the deal. You must be a "member in good standing" in order to benefit from being a part of the IFBB.

Good for you Lee! You should be able to do what ever you want as it is your career. Its a job like any other and you do what you have to do to secure a living. To hell with anyone who is against what you are doing.

I have seen posts like these for a long time. It is true that an organization sets rules to determine their own limits and policy. These organizations get to decide what is "fair" or not and each member decides how they will proceed. However, bodybuilding is a niche industry and organizations can have their own rules. The supplement companies have become big business and they provide the lifeblood to the industry in terms of money and sponsorships. It is time to make them aware of what goes on publicly. In the environment we live in today I do not think companies want to support discrimination at any rate. What do you think???

You might try to find the nonprofit corporation bylaws of the NPC to confirm the company's policy. IF you can find them. I don't know anyone who has seen them. Seems to be the biggest secret in amateur bodybuilding. I wonder why.

Lee if you compete inthe Texas show without restriction the boys at the IFBB ranch won't know whether to shit or pass out. You will usher in a free for all on the competitive stage. DO IT!
