This guy is rising, rising faster than anything right now.
Never been a fan of his.
I recently watched The Departed. He was awesome in that movie.
So I watched Gangs of New York, a movie who's a few years old. DiCaprio is great, but not as good as in The Departed.
Then I watched Blood Diamond the other week.
Fcuk. Has got to be one of the greatest movies I've ever seen. And DiCaprio's performance is well on par with Martin Sheen's in Apocalypse Now. Or any other classic role for that matter.
It was a genius on display.
I'm gonna check out The Aviator, and I'm sure DiCaprio will be somewhere between Gangs.. and The Departed in performance there.
But this guy... To quote him from an earlier flick: "King of the World"...
He's the DeNiro of our times.

Plus he bangs Brazilian supermodels, which btw is a sign of greatness.

His best role: What's Eating Gilbert Grape.
I won't spoil it for those who haven't seen it.

He's a good actor, but his face/physique hinders him.
I can't see him as a real MAN, if you know what i mean.
He still looks like a 19 yo boy. In the aviator this was pretty clear, i don't buy it when he plays a 40 year old insane madman. Liam Neeson would have been perfect for that role.
He was VERY good in "Catch me if you can", where he had to play a twenty-yo or something.
-
When he was on Growing Pains, Robert Deniro handpicked him for the role in This Boys Life, he has always been considered a great actor and seems to be getting even better the last few years.
-
Basketball diaries is some of his best work.
Although he's to distinctive looking for me. He always looks the same. Like Aston Kucher always looking like a dumbass.

I agree, I found his role in GNY totally unbelievable, he is like a little queen mincing about.
However he is still a great actor in the correct roles

People were predicting many oscars in his future after that one.
If you have a chance, catch him in "The Basketball Diaries". He was just awesome in that one.
He's really maturing as an actor as well.

I used to seriously hate Leo and openly cheered when he went down in Titanic. But he has done some very good movies in the last few years.
No, Edward Norton is the DeNiro of our times.
