PBW Presents: Chris Dickerson - Mr. Olympia, Mr. Universe, Mr. America
Episode # 70 - Replay Now Available at www.BodybuildingRadio.com (http://www.BodybuildingRadio.com)
Celebrating the 25th Anniversary of his Mr. Olympia triumph, “Pro Bodybuilding Weekly” welcomes one of the all-time greats when Chris Dickerson visits the show. In a rare interview, the former Olympia champ will discuss an extraordinary career, highlighted by his victory over Frank Zane to become the 6th winner of the Sandow Trophy. A former Mr. Universe and Mr. America, Dickerson was also the controversial 2nd place finisher behind Schwarzenegger at the 1980 Olympia.
Presented by MuscleTech - Chris Dickerson becomes the 8th Mr. Olympia to appear on PBW. Prior broadcasts with Olympia champions Larry Scott, Franco Columbu, Lee Haney, Dorian Yates, Ronnie Coleman, Jay Cutler and Arnold Schwarzenegger are available for on-demand replay.

Not only the worst Mr. O but also the gayest......
and this matters to you?
-
Chris is a phenomenal singer. Ask him if he's been classically trained or if it's just a natural gift.
-
and this matters to you?
So he is gay? Ask him how it felt to be a gay man in bodybuilding and the fact that he had to hide it so long.
-
cool
-
Hey Chick, ask Chris if he felt the stigma to be a multi-O winner? and if he's been tempted in the past to come out of retirement?
-
Great guest. Competed over 30 years thats gotta be a record.
-
He competed for over 30 years?
Wow, what age start and retire?

Wow... you don't see guys doing 27 years often these days.
What is Dickerson's day job all this time?
-
Definitely a great story to bodybuilding for lasting that long.
In comparison:
The average NFL career is 4 years! :o
-
Not only the worst Mr. O but also the gayest......
there are no bad champs,,the fact you got to be the best in the world sometime someplace talks for itself
look at the competetive record,,that guy wast living in thw world of,,,what if i dieted down,,what if i stepped on stage,,what if i could win local show,,that guy went from stage to stage winning shows all over the place and took his body with all its weak points and strong points to the top of the top and the top of the top is MR O BABY,,you also need to have brain for that task belive it or not
-

Dickerson remains the oldest winner of the Mr. Olympia (43 yrs old)...and the first African-American to win the Mr. America title. In 1979, Dickerson made his Olympia debut. Here's a list of some of the guys who were in that 1979 Olympia, Lightweight class. Pretty impressive, to say the least:
Frank Zane
Boyer Coe
Robby Robinson
Chris Dickerson
Danny Padilla
Albert Beckles
Tom Platz
Ed Corney
(Zane won the class and went on to defeat Mentzer for the overall Olympia title)

wow, they used to interview people before the show and asked them how they would give back to the community as the title-holder!

Martinez could have said that he would stop selling drugs.
-
Chris must be getting old, cause one time he hit on me and then a few weeks later asked me if he knew me.
But aside from that he was a nice dude, and totaly against steroid use.
-
You should quit!
only been here a week ::)
-
Martinez could have said that he would stop selling drugs.
LOL ;D
-
Wow, he won in 82 then chose not to compete the next year. A lesser Samir won, before Haney came on and smashed everyone for 8 years.

Holy take over of the shown Shawn.
HAHAHAH We got another shoutout...
-
Compare the eloquence of Mr. Dickerson with the mush-mouthed grunting of Ronnie Coleman.
-
Holy take over of the shown Shawn.
Ya a little too much verbal diahhrea as usual, taking a little too much time away from Chris. Though it was in well-intentioned tribute to him.
Imagine the endless yackety yak if Shawn had won the Olympia. :-X

How in the World did he fall to 11th place the year after he won the Olympia ?
-
Awesome interview. It sounded like Dickerson holds some grudges. He all but called the AAU a bunch of racists. Dickerson beat Franco in 81 IMO. He deserves some respect when you really think about his achievements.
