All the while I was thinking I was obsessed with trying to lift too much weight

My style looks like a ballerina compared to these videos  ;D

Perhaps I should pile on the plates and get stuck with a bar on my chest more often

Barbaccio is a talented powerlifter.  The movement you see him doing is essentially for pre-hab work (from what I can recall).

He's clearly a powerlifter. Dude looks strong and thick, he could diet a little and show impressive muscle,
it's not their gig. You can learn a lot from the PLers that will put more meat on your frame in 6 months than
a elaborate expensive drug stack.  Better have a real solid posterior muscle chain allready if you try his movement there. The stronger you get, you will get thicker.

Seems like a pretty good excersise, with proper weight selection. A good core excersise for benchpressers, if I were to guess.

I know some guys who do reverse benches with rubber bands (sort of like a barbell row, but lying on a bench inside a power rack, rowing the bar down) instead of just different types of BB or DB rows.

tone benches over 700 in a shirt and i don't know how much raw, and reps pretty high with 315 despite doing mostly shirt work. he's a powerhouse and i would bet my last dollar he's stronger than you twice times over. i'd be willing to bet his shoulders are just fine.

Seems like a good way to damage you elbows.  Doesn't it seem that you would be putting a lot of stress on your ligaments and joints by doing the movement that fast?

what is the point of powerlifting? I know there are exceptions but most powerlifters have a shity looking pysique and gh gut.

I'm sure he is. Good for him. i'm not knocking him. It just looks like a good way to fuck up shoulders. But it works for him.

Well, to be fair, they don't train for physique contests.

Dude that "workout" couldn't have possibly been more "live". Morons like that at a gym are fucking hilarious, way to put on a show. This is way up there with the skinny dudes "flexing their abs" every 2-3 sets with their shorts half way down their ass queer boys.

Sorry, but those Barbaccios are completely useless.  I don't care what video they're on or what "pro" is doing them.  People always try to get cute with deviating from your standard movements.  Believe me, changing a small thing in your diet will yield much greater gains than mixing exercises and working on "powercore movements".
Why is it Coleman doesn't do these fancy abstract movements?  Oh yeah, cause they don't fucking do anything but pull something.

We did these in high school football training. Our high school won 5a State champs 2 out of the 4 years i was there... we also did them with DB's and a hammer grip. as a linebacker they made a very big difference in taking people down and stopping forward progress.

Any exercise can fuck you up if done incorrectly.
