Super strong but maybe arching his back that high is why he lifts so heavy but has no chest to show for it.

nice, there is a 16-17 year old kid at my gym that is a monster as well.... not sure his max but he'll be hitting the 405 mark pretty soon... but this 20 year old is DAMN impressive!

Agreed. If he is 20, that is crazy strong. I have seen much worse form with less weight than that. His triceps have to be nutso strong to lock out with those weights too.

You may well be right. On some of the reps his form wasn't proper. And in a competition, you will need to make a proper stop on the chest.
So his lifts aren't good in competitions. But I'm sure he could get 500 in a competition if he trained for it.
Slightly off-topic: It seems like more and more lifters are doing meets RAW, everyone are sick of the suits and the shirts, making lifters bomb.
I hope to see the double and triple ply shirts gone from comps, as well as the canvas and denim.

One thing I noticed about this site is that if someone does something impressive, 70% of the post will have something to be overly negative about. Give the kid his props. At 20 years, consider his present and future potential. If you want a strict, by the book bench, than go to the nearest "Health Spas" and have Biff, the foo foo toned 150lb PT, show you how to do a proper flat bench chest press.
The kids using 400lbs for 10 and I wonder how many guys here can squat, or even DL, with that kind of weight? Let alone get 500lbs up. And if they were true about their lifts, how many could bench 300 in half way decent style for 10 reps. That kids just born to be a bencher's, as some to be squaters or DL'ers. That is the luck of the genetic draw. My two cousins (17 & 18 at the time...both weighted in the 220 range), BP's in the low 400's for reps in regular workouts. For them, it was not that big of a deal.

The kid IS strong but he really shouldn't arch so much. I doubt he would be able to do that weight the right way. But at least he didn't have a spotter lifting half the weight for him like some of the pros do. Strong kid just gotta work on his form and not let his ego get in the way.

Just so you all know the Hines boys are competitve bench pressers out of Northern Indiana. I know all of the guys in the video personally and they are a great group of kids that bust there asses.
They train right there in that garage, no commercial gyms or gym equipment. They got plates, bars, power rack and a bench.And they do it all on there own.
All of them are over 600 in Contest and Greg (kid in vid) is closing in on 700 in a bench shirt. There are not alot of kids out there that can touch these guys in there weight classes and age divisions.

I'm gonna say YES, just be cause the times that I have seen and talked to them they did not look all swollen and bloated like most powerlifters that use. But everyone has skeletons in there closet so I cannot guarantee it but I would highly doubt it that they are using.

its a crying shame when you bench 500 with no impressive physique to speak of. no crazy huge muscle size very average. im impressed with the bench though. mind boggiling he can lift that when he looks like nothing :o he'd be a good hustla 8)

yes it was added, you could clearly see the quarter on there for the 455 set and they specifically did a close up of the weight to show the 5th 45 and the 2 and a half for the 500 set.

i think his size is actually very good, seems like if you're not Dorian Yates or Ronnie Coleman then you're not impressive, the kid is 6'2" and 250 pounds and looks every bit of that, he's not small or undeveloped by any means, is he Mr. Olympia material, no, but he's more than likely natural or close to it.

because Trey is claiming weights that the strongest powerlifters in the world would struggle with like 650-700 pound bench press and 600 pound incline press. ::)

Great that he can bounce weight off his chest...but bad form, no pause at the bottom, arched back and a weak right side ( a pec tear waiting to happen). Would make more sense for him to drop the weight down, don't worry about the ego, and work on form and true POWER...just my two cents

Other than a slightly high back arch I would say his lifts are good. Damn strong kid.
I am 6'2 at age 20 the best I could do was around 350. My best aver was 445 for a single at #225's. My lift style was not to far from his. the crab position is what most call it, the drive position. 3 points, ass shoulders, press up press hard.
I only hope he goes easy on his shoulders. I paid the price once I hit my 30's.
I've since opted for a more bodybuilder approach and more flat back presses. More reps and sets, less weight yet working up the progressive overload ladder.
I am 37 years old now and can feel muscle growing, nice feeling.

If they had a fight with each other who would be more likely to win?

Would you say that the bench press is one of the most overrated lifts? What, with the short range of motion, arching and other techniques that improve leverage, to the bench shirts used in powerlifting competitions.

I am more impressed with his 405 for 10. That shit went up and down effortlessly. If look closely the spotter thought that he was done and was about to rack the weight. Then he cranks out 2 more reps.

And I have paused 500 pounds and benched it easy before.... Im going to compete raw soon wanna bench lows 500's ... I have done an ugly 540 touch n go after 435 for 8 .. front delts were thrashed also when i did this...And the flat back comment... I try my best to arch becuz i compete in powerlifting and i take the best possible set up to lift the most weight possible..I could take a narrower grip and go flat back and hit 500 still...yes ! but for what for all the 135 pound flat back internet warrior benchers? Im not trying to plz everyone..... I lift for myself and I like what i do... I really enjoy it... I try my best to arch becuz i compete in powerlifting and i take the best possible set up to lift the most weight possible..I could take a narrower grip and go flat back and hit 500 still...yes ! but for what for all the 135 pound flat back internet warrior benchers? Great work mate, those are some awesome lifts. I too am 20 and I thought I was doing pretty good in the bench department until I saw this LOL. You got a great future ahead of you keep it up mate. Ignore the haters, most are probably juicers who couldnt come within 100lbs of that weight after a handful of cycles.

But it's light training, endurance, not maximum effort or dynamic, explosive.
I've said it before, and I could say it again: You should try train for strength. You got awesome build, and could probably do really well in strongman comps in a few years.
But you need to have right mentality for it too.

i will absolutely gaurantee you his arms are 19 easy, the kid pushed 405 for 10 strict reps, i've seen small armed guys bench big numbers but not for reps and not with that ease, the kid weighs at least 260 pounds, i believe that arm measurement.

trust me man its much better to be healthier and ripped with no excess weight than to carry all that fat. im strong but not on the bench or squats ive curled 225 pounds and can run a 5:40 mile

Prop's to a kid who has natural talent and ability to do so juice free. Good for you, I only hope you are careful with your joints, you are too young and full of cum to think you may have that problem but trust me, mind your form. Your shoulders could be hurt. Even though you can outlift most here this does not mean others here cannot offer you some wise words of wisdom.

u act like im sickly obese...kinda pissing me off like i have absolutely no muscle... im around 17-18 percent bodyfat at the most.... yes that is sum access body fat but damn at 6'2 up 250's thats not to bad for a powerlifter....be more ripped have better cardio than me if that makes you happy.... what im doing makes me happy so you constantly downing it doesnt affect me.... what does affect me is how ignorant you are to understand i like what i do and who i am..... u act like life isnt worth living if you arent under 10 percent bodyfat and cant run a 6 minute mile.....??????????u should have never posted on this topic, you had nothing positive to say... if you are really worried about ppl not being fat and outt a shape maybe you should train ppl... but one thing of advice if you do ... if you train some one outta shape telling them how terrible they are and how fat, ugly and unhealthy wont motivate them to do any better... does it make u feel better to talk shit about ppl who u are in better shape than... im just interested in what ur motives are and why the hell from what ive read u have such a negative look on life? its like u just want everyone to know they are shit and your not.... i could go on and on about it becuz i simply dont understand why you are this way.... but ill stop here!

ur not that smart either you clearly stated for me to lift that much more than you i'd have to be 35 percent bigger meaning strength is based on muscular size when its not.... there's guys way smaller than you that would crush ur lifts.......if you think strength is based on muscle size ur clearly not that intelligent or very misinformed!

Please dont waste your time talking to this kid, he knows so littele about strength training/bbing its not even funny. He had a thread once where he claimed he had the best method for getting bigger.... 60 sets of pullups and front squats for an hour.... the sad part about it is that he honestly believes it . :-\
