I agree ... Branch always does look a bit unhealthy ... not that i'm surprised. Looks really good, though. Desmond, on the other hand, has a pretty wide waist ... no taper that I can see. With that being said, I hope they both do very well.

I havn't heard really any hype about him. I have heard him metioned in FLEX and I think there was one article about him like they do with all new pros, other then that I can't say he's been hyped up by anyone.

as far as the 'progress' he's made since winning his pro card, it doesn't look good so far. His waist looked VERY different back then. I guess we'll have to see if he just had a belly full of water in him for these pics, or if it's all downhill from here...

Miller time in NYC if he gets as conditioned as Branch. Desmond's muscle size is probably going to take down Melvin. This guy is basically Ronnie's physique meets Victor's physique with none of the flaws. With more back development he is going to be damn tough to beat.

no, but guys stay very hydrated in the offseason and are very empty onstage when they compete. If it was one of D_minus' first guest posings, maybe he wasn't aware of the need to pop a diuretic before getting up there. Or sucking in his belly, as the first pic of him exhaling will be pwning him on message boards for the next 40 years.
His lines, shape, genetics, completely pwn a seasoned pro like Branch, and he's 4 weeks out from a very stressful show, with the pressure of being a MD cover boy in NYC all weighing on him.
That being said, he NEEDS to get the gyno fixed and learn to control that belly.

His waist isn't bigger. Look at the obliques and you'll see unlike Nationals that they are not yet visible from the front. He's got more fat and water to lose and when he does the waist will look like Nationals.

Damn, Branch looks awesome! Every inch of him is vascular, including his scalp!! Striations in his quads, split in his biceps, shredded abs and obliques. No serratus in sight, which has gone extinct since the introduction of GH. :(
I think he looks old because of genetics. Look at Ronnie. He takes about 50 doctor prescribed pills a day to maintain his already poor health from declining and looks great for 43 or whatever he is now. Smooth skin, few wrinkles. Ain't all drugs in this case.
Desmond has great limbs. His torso sucks and that torn lat looks like my worst nightmare.

I'm sorry man but I just dont see it. He does not have any standout bodyparts and his waist looks like a square box. I dont see the pleasing lines that 240 talks about.

Branch looks frighteningly unhealthy.
Desmond looks great for 4 weeks out in terms of condition and his wheels, but he definitely has huge issues with his taper and that will hold him back from the big boys. He could win in NY, but I think he'll have problems when moving up to the bigger boys, like Phil did. Not saying he isn't a great bb, but that's a structural issue that I'm not sure he can fix. Time will tell.

I'm a libertarian so I am all in favour of letting Branch do his thing and live his life as he wants.

Over on MD Branch Forum his workout partner talks about Branch eating 3-4 pounds of steak a day, I think of what Mike Matarrazzo said about his heart and attributes it to his diet of red meat. The clock is tick tick ticking.

Taking a picture of someone at their absolute peak and comparing that to a picture of them 4 weeks out is not very logical.
This is probably the best Desmond has looked four weeks out. I know he trains and diets very hard. He'll be in shape at the show and should qualify for the O.
As for Branch, maybe it's because he doesn't have a tan, but he looks more than 4 weeks out to me. I'm not a doctor, but I think he looks unhealthy.

Branch is freaky, but he always looks like he is about to die everytime I see him on stage or even in the offseason....Desmond has some great conditioning and muscle density, but it looks to me as if his body is starting to lose its flow...If his waist gets any wider I don't see him even making top 5 at pro shows after another year with most of the other new guys that have been doing so well they will leave him in the dust....

Think about the USA or Nationals champ in ANY year. Put that same physique in ANY pro show and he would do very well and qualify for the Olympia. Pros should simply focus on bringing their muscles in hard and full - not gaining more of it.
yes too a point a hghwight,and super need to refine,but a middlewght like david henry was need's to get bigger and as lean as he was as a middle,he's done well,jimmy canyon was good and they were neck and neck as amateurs.now it's a whole different story.go over the history of heavyweights and super's the last few yrs they made immediate impact or could hang with the seasoned pro's on size ,name some lower class guy's,henry and dugdale have been exceptions.

However...Dexter started placing really well once he put on the extra 10-15 pounds before he won the Aronld a few years back. He always had the symetry but not the size. He won after he got bigger.
