Title: challenge from 240 and I
Post by: militarymuscle69 on April 21, 2007, 07:19:11 AM
240 and I have agreed to not mention the war for one week, anyone else willing to jump on board? See if we can lighten up the atmosphere in here.

I'd like to see both sides keep track this week, though.

next saturday, BB/mm69/hh6 should present a list of the accomplishments in Iraq this week.

enigma/ribo/jag should present a list of failures/problems/setbacks this week.

We could do a pro/con, or a risk analysis, or whatever, and see what the cumulative efforts of a full week are.  X amount of deaths, money etc, vs. X amount of progress.

Good idea.

In my opinion we should talk about Iraq every minute of the day as long as our country is making such a giant sacrifice over there.

:)

I will still be doing my writing - actually a scoreboard based upon news articles and stats this week.

I'll just hold it ,then deliver a little mini-verdict on 'one week of war' as a microcosm for past and future efforts, on Sat.

Should be interesting.

mm69 isn't in favor or statistics unless it's refering to the black prison population.  ;D

Riveria is old for a closer. I'm surprised his rotator cuff is still attached to his body.

I'm in as well. It might actually be fun arguing about something other than the war.

You're right about Rivera, Paps had a problem after one season never mind the eternity that Rivera has been closing. Torre seems to have no problem using him for more than three outs as well, at least that's my perception.

Oh, and WHAT A FRIGGIN GAME.

Pitchers need to stop pitching to A-Rod, he's hitting everything. His second homerun last night into the bullpen was on an outside fastball. A fantastic display of power.

Last night it wasn't cutting, that pitch is usually unhittable for lefties when it cuts in on the hands.

mm69 and I, storied adversaries, agreed to it.

I'm sure watchdogs on both sides (beach bum for any homosexual and/or pothole repair aspects of the war, and berserker for the very obvious disaster of a war and casualty machine known as Bush's Folly.)

you bring up an interesting point about not pitching to A-Rod, just like Pujols in past years....Why is bonds the only one gettin gpitched around. I still remember when Pujols came up in the playoffs against Houston. I looked at my wife and said "here comes a pass...what do they do?challenge him and lose the series.

I just see alot of wasted energy on it in here, nothing is going to change no matter who posts what. You guys only see one side and refuse to see the other, my side sees both sides and wants to make sure both are represented. It has gone no where in the 6 months or so I have been here so why not give it a break for a month...believe me there are only a dozen people here that post regularly so it isn't like the whole nation is going to forget about it.

why bitch about the war? I mean you realize that Bush is going to stay right? And a Repub is going to be elected and guess what, they will stay too. I just see people spending so much time digging up iall these articles and shit. I mean whatever, go ahead and keep wasting your energy on it if you want.

Really so your logic is that if you can't do anything about something you find really wrong, don't talk about it, just forget about it :-\  If this is the way you think, this forum is really not for you because this is what we so often do in political discussions.  Come on man, we're all shooting the shit over stuff we have very very very little if no influence over.  So what?  This IS what people do when they have an interest in politics and there is a good that comes of it with the knowledge we gain over time by bringing material and engaging in debate.  I really hope you will refrain from encouraging people to not participate in major political issues again.

People should discuss and not discuss whatever they want without interference.  Hope this helps.

I didn't ask to ignore it forever, just one week.

"there is a good that comes of it with the knowledge we gain over time by bringing material and engaging in debate"

problem is this isn't happening in here, there is no debate going on from your side on this war, On my side we admit that it isn't going all rosey but that it isn't all negative also. Your side refuses to see that although it may be small there is progress happening.
