Looks like Vince Taylor's non-existent work ethic in the gym translated to financial planning as well.  :-X

As much as I don't think Vince tried in bodybuilding in lieu of running on incredible genetics, I do find it sad that bodybuilding pays so little that a guy still needs to come out of retirement to compete in order to pay some bills.  Vince is one of the best bodybuilders in history.  You would never see a pro football player in a clip like this.

Disclaimer: I'm not saying pro bodybuilders deserve any more money than they make, but I still love bodybuilding and do wish there was a better market out there for bodybuilders.

The market for our sport will only grow and improve in the public eye when the illegal drugs are taken out of it.  TV broadcasting companies and advertisers might consider airing the larger contests if that were to happen.  That would bring more prize money and endorsement deals.  As we all know, the drugs will never go away.  Even ESPN doesn't air bodybuilding contests anymore (at least in my area of the States).
I've met Vince Taylor and he's one of my favorite bodybuilders.  It's sad that a lot of pro's are going on blind faith that some day the sport will blossom and they'll have the chance to retire after 10-15 years of training and competing and be financially set.  Hopefully they're able to invest while they're making money and at least pad their retirement a little.

I wish there was a better market for bodybuilding.  Makes me sad to see the clip, as Vince is one of my favorites and I hate to see that hes having financial difficulties.  I guess hes just going back to what he knows, instead of trying to get a normal job.  He looks damn good for 50, thats for sure

Not necessarily due to BBing. There are ex-athletes who made far more that are in his situation. Obviously part of it's their own motivation.

if you compare bodybuilding to other sports,, you'll notice bodybuilding is the only "sport" that doesn't keep score.. so in a bodybuilding show -you really have no idea whats going on. the judges like to keep the score a secret -which makes it boring as shit.

i want to see a scoreboard.. i want to see who is ahead of who, i want to see who beats who in what poses.. i want a scoreboard with 20 names on it showing me where everyone is at.. i want to see the guys going back and forth in points between the rounds and poses. ex: jay is behind ronnie,, but jay beats him in the back double bi pose -now jays in front... thats a sport, thats a competition.. if you keep the points a secret till the end -people have already lost interest and switched the channel.

Good point. It would add another element of excitement for spectators.

Even beauty pagents reveal the "score" on TV, after say the swimsuit round, etc...

Except that transparency isn't in the interest of commercial enterprises with possible agendas re: winners and losers. :D

The only people making money on the "sport" are the guys that don't even lift weights..  The "athletes" are killing themselves to put money in other peoples pockets..
good point...it's a biusness of selling bodies.
