What is your opinion regarding a person's Spirit being different than or the same as their Soul?

Good question, Stella! Can't wait to hear the responses on that one.

same difference i'd say...if i were to partake..

IMO none. We have intelligence that is much higher than that of animals, and since we are more complicated we render "emotions" which some animals display, but no to the extent that we do. Since we consider ourselves above all other life on Earth, most religions will claim it's "spirit or soul" that separates us from the animals.
Personally my opinion is that once you die, you die. Morbid, but I feel that's true. It's hard for anyone to believe it because since we are supposed to be above other living things, there has to be more. However until it's proven that there is an afterlife, I believe life is finite.

I believe we are a spiritual being with a soul. In my opinion, and as I understand it, the two are different.

This is personal opinion and nothing more.
Just as there is only one God in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Ghost, and since God created us in His likeness and in His image, we too are three in one: Mind, Body and Spirit(Soul).
We lose our body when we die, but our spirit and mind keep on living.
We can lose our mind, go insane, but we still have our body and our spirit.
We can exercise our body and grow our muscles. Likewise, we can exercise our mind and grow, and we can also exercise our spirit and grow spiritually.

Man, I wish I could articulate things as well as you do. That's a great analogy, loco.

So here's a question. Why do some Christian denominations not accept the Holy Trinity even though it is derived from the same Bible? Here lies the problem because even amongst Christians there is disagreement on the Bible.

I believe the spirit & soul are woven together.....they are united together. I look at it similar to the ego & id. The id is all impulses, and the ego controls the impulses. The spirit is the untamed freedom, and the soul tries to keep us on track. Both are connected to how we see ourseleves in the universe, or to god, etc...

I'm pretty sure the denominations that do not accept the Holy Trinity would not be biblically defined as Christian denominations. Do you have specific denominations in mind Oldschool?
