Title: pro's who lose momentum
Post by: Royalty on April 25, 2007, 06:56:30 AM
In bodybuilding you will see guys like Gaspari, Nasser, Markus who place very high in pro shows and then slowly begin to lose crisp condition and eventually fade away.

What was the best example of a pro who began to fade but was able to come back regain their position as one of the best?

Lenda Murray comes to mind but not too many men have done so. Probably because their is more competition to deal with on the men's side.

It's not "loosing momentum"

it's called "fried receptors".

I meant losing momentum in a figurative sense...not literally.

I understand that receptors down regulate but also the judges tend to lose interest once a guy's placing in past shows have began to dip.

dude if he retired then he would be considered a legend right now....a guy that we could only speculate about the great things that he would have accomplished.....and he would have maintained his health.

The athletes are like Greyhounds--once the herd no longer produces, they're put off to the side.

They relate to one another for sure. Fried receptors, and you lose the condition and/or the muscle mass (and/or shape in some cases) that got you to that point. Then you start slipping in placings.
9 out of ten times, you don't ever get back to where you started. I can't seem to think of one guy that has gotten back. Arnold did to an extent, but that's an argument in and of itself.
