I'm amazed wolverine is still as popular as he is, he's been getting jammed down comic fans throats for 20 years now. I don't even know if they've revealed his origin in the comics at this point. I know they've revealed little bits and pieces along the way but never a difinitive total origin story.

I know I'm going to get grilled for being a comic book geek but...
Hugh Jackman is a horrible choice for Wolverine. Always has been from day one. In the comics, Wolverine(Logan) is 5'3". Hugh Jackman, in real life, is 6'3", a foot taller. On screen, he looks like Yao Ming. All tall actors look huge on screen. His portrayal doesn't look good on screen, IMO. Wolverine is a stout badass, not some lean, tall super hero. It's stupid.
It doesn't translate well to the authenticity of the character. There it is. Flame on.

No I agree.
It's a very small problem compared to the story they will be giving. I have always thought of Wolverine as a dark character. I don't think they will make the movie they way they should, it will be to much for kids. This isn't good IMO.
If its similar to the new batman movies I would be happy but it won't :(

Movies that come from comic books are adapted to the big screen. By definition this requires changes. Film is a very different medium from comics and what works in the comics will not always work on screen. From make up, to costumes, to casting, to storylines and other elements no movie can be a true representation of any comic book. Filmmakers understand this to a degree that fans and audiences never will… For example, filmmakers are constrained by things like budgets and that is something most audiences never think about. Many times filmmakers make a change after trying to be true to the comic book and realizing that, for any number of reasons, it's not going work on film.
We can all hope for good adaptations but complaining that a movie departed from the (comic) book is a hopelessly unsophisticated response. People who came to X-Men with any number of expectations were probably disappointed, but I think Hugh Jackman did a great job with a nearly impossible character--and I've been reading the X-men on and off since I was a kid.
