Title: Heed this Melvin Antohny and Phil Heath: Flex Wheeler interview!
Post by: Parker on April 29, 2007, 11:27:53 AM
I just read Flex Wheeler's interview in this month's Ironman magazine.  He was asked about a question of did he gained too much weight. He said yes, and that "he was a sprinter and tried to run a marathon" Meaning a sprinter is built for sprinting and should stick to that, not running a marathon.

Melvin Anthony has basically the same shape as Flex, and  and as such should learn from Flex's mistakes and try not to gain too much weight. To me he looked his best a week or so out from the 1999 USA (on his vid "Marvelous")

Phil Heath as well shouldn't listen to the pundits that say he should gain 20 pounds. Not right away, maybe 5 pounds a year. And gradually work up to 20 pounds. Like Shawn Ray did.  I believe  SHawn's first outing at the O he was 201 pounds, and constantly can in at around 205. It wasn't until 1998 when he came in around 215, and you still couldn't really tell a difference because he was still cut to shreds.
