Why do people say that you can make big gains after cutting weight?  What's the science behind it?

the rational being that most of the gains after a certain BF percentage is mostly fat

lets say you gain 25lbs while bulking how much of that is actually muscle? and how much is fat and water?

I thought their was a more scientific reason behind it.  I remember someone posting about it not long ago.

if you search google long enough you can find "scientific" data to support any argument.
