Look at the pic again, Jay has a smaller waist (in that pic -- the front double bi). I'm not impressed with Melvin's shape at all. He didn't improve his pecs or lats (and he's not showing the legs) and his waist got wider (yes, I know there's fat on there).

i was right there.... Melvin isnt where jay is offseason. Jay is coming off no time off. Mel took time off. Jay looked SWOLE!!! very fridge like. Mel looked good and hes a cool ass dude

His chest has never been a strong point for him, kinda like Flex Wheeler but Melvin has a much better back. I think if he can make his projected improvments he will def be top 5 again with no problem. He still has plenty of time to get himself ready for the O.

Melvin should train with Ronnie for one year without any breaks! Then he could pretty much destroy jay on upperbody!
Melvin learned to train from the bodybuilding lazy squad.. flex, cormier, shawn, dillet.. so.. Go lift with Ronnie Melv!

Ok actually shawn is a pretty good trainer. But the rest I mentioned are not so. Well I have never seen Cormier train but by the looks of him always coming in second I would say he did not train to his full potential. Plus all of the cell phone calls and missed workouts I read about..

Great shape but NOT better than Flex's and he loses out to Ronnie in size AND conditioning. Comier never did as well as he could have done due to lack of focus but let's be keep it real. Even if he had given 100% and had his cell phone confiscated, C.C would have ZERO Sandows vs Ronnie. :)

I like melvin in some poses alot but with the judging criteria the way it is right now he won't beat Jay come olympia time. Once they turn around Jay's got Mel beat on almost everything, upper back, lower back, hamstrings and calves plus Jay is waaay harder than Melvin most of the time.

Nope, back in the mid-to late 90's Cormier was hailed as being one of the strongest competitive bbers in pushing exercises. Easy putting up 315 on behind the neck, in contest shape at that. They was his infamous 695 squat that Flex mag caught, before Fux torn his quad doing the same for Flex. Cormier was no joke back in the day, one of the reasons why he was called "the Real Deal", ( plus because he looked like Holified)

Exactly and over the past few years he has said he has backed off a little due to sore joints and such. He has the base and great genetics, there is no reason to believe he can't come back and look great especially since he isn't competing in the mid 90's when physiques were much better then today.

Very observant.
I believe that was back before the Fux accident, if so those would have been real. Maybe two spotters just out of view is why we don't see the ends of the barbell.
