-
Probably will even out at about 200 g carbs, don't want to go much less than 150 g though.
-
cant really see muc from that pic but you do look lean on it - good luck!

Wow, that seems really low on calories considering you're so far out (I'm sure you know what you're doing). Good luck Jonno.
-
Must admit I was a little worried about the lack of calories seen as the first few weeks are just a clean up really(although yesterday was a bit higher).I will stick at this until I stop losing weight though then maybe cycle the carbs a bit.
-
I'll be there to cheer you on mate. Happy dieting ;D

Lookin good, what would you guess your bf is?Are you a natty?
-
yes-lifetime natural.I would guess about 12-13% ??
-
you're at a good bf level to start jonno.. keep us posted bro
-
Lookin good jonno, diet looks pretty good also. Just one thing I noticed is that you seem to be pretty dependant on protein powder as a protein source. Personally I'd use more whole foods rather than depending on powders....
Your looking good though brother and will do some damage at the show.
-
Thanks guys! I think you are right about the protein.I use powder more for convenience really but it's never as satisfying as solid food.
-
Hey Jonno, got any progress pics.. how's the diet coming along? on schedule?
-

No pics yet but diets coming along well thanks.Have lost just over 8 lbs and waist is down to 29.5 inches. Will get some more pics soon. Also decided to do another show-the NPA South West in Taunton,Somerset at the end of July.Don't expect to be bang on but want to practice the routine and get a bit of stage time.
-
Very impressive jonno.....you have wide shoulders and a narrow waist.
That is a x-frame. ;D
Im dieting too...........so your not alone..... 8)
-
Thanks War Horse-good luck with the diet, mate! Do you ever have planned cheat meals? I usually have one a week the day before training legs-usually a pizza, indian or general junk food.
-
Good Luck Mate

Yes, like you once a week. usually friday nite with the wife.
Looking good in the pics ....tiny waist and striated delts already!!!
-
Thanks for the positive comments.Had a chat with some friends yesterday who suggested I need to lose 8-10 lbs to be in decent shape and about 14 lbs to be really shredded.Just going to do some cardio ;D
-
Latest pics.Looking a bit watery as had last cheat meal yesterday-donner meat pizza and chips(fries ;)) .Put on 3 pounds overnight but that will be gone tommorrow.Main show in 5 weeks but doing a warm up show next sunday.
-
Just started carbing up today for sunday's show.Been on 50 g of carbs for the last 3 days but will do 400 g today,300 g tommorrow and possibly 200 g on saturday depending on how I look. Also drinking 8 ltrs of water a day which I will cut about 4 pm on saturday.Really looking forward to it now.I won't be at my very best but my upper body is bang on,quads not bad just hams and glutes lagging a little. This is just a warm up show for my main target, the NPA Heart of England,on 19th August.
Also going to have a day off the diet on monday-looking forward to a full English breakfast ;D
-
Recent 'most muscular' (sorry about the light :-\)

jonno you look already - ready!

looks good. Post up some contest pics if you can. Good luck.
-
Thanks! Will do,Windor-unless I look crap,lol.
-
Well the shows been and gone and I placed terribly-5th out of 5 in a very strong class.I know it was only a warm up show but I was disappointed on the day.Took a lot of positives out of it though.Had a chat with the judges and I need to be more ripped-I was 4-6 lbs off-to stand out in the line up.They thought I had added upper body mass since my last show in 2005 but did not show the same condition particularly in the lower body.I have taken this on board and will endeavour to be shredded for my next show on 19th August-I'm not bothered where I place as long as I come in really ripped. Was up at 7 am this morning for 40 minutes power walking and plan to drop carbs to 100 g a day(after early morning cardio and after training only) except on leg day and chest/back day when I will up it to 200g.
Will post some photos when they come through as a reminder to myself how I must never look again.
-
Jonno. 5th place is one i know all too well myself. don't let it get you down mate. Onwards and upwards!
-
Too right,Max 8) Congrats on your world record in the bench press mate. You should get the results up on here. You're too modest, mate ;D

NOt quite a world record ;D Only a european and a british one i'm afraid ;)

Hey there Jonno, just wanted to say what a great little read this thread was. Shows what the results of hard work and diet can do. Too bad about your placing mate. Even if you didn't like your condition on the day, I think you looked great in the last pic you posted, must have been a strong field. Keep it up mate 8).
-
Thanks,Honour.i appreaciate that,mate.Still haven't got any pics though ???
-
Lookin' great jonno....proof positive that naturals can make good gains. Your shoulders look great in the one pic...nice and striated.
-
Thanks,Coltrane.Looking forward to redeeming myself at the Heart of England show.
-
well you obviously know what your doing. interestinf you keep the carbs so high.
I was gonna say he was going low with carbs.
The recommended carb-fat-protein energy percentage ratio is somewhere around 50/30/20.
And that is if you're eating high protein.
Recommended by sports scientists, not bodybuilders, that is.
-
Down to 100 g of carbs 5 days a week now with 200 g on the other two(protein around 220 g).Seems to be working but I do feel very tired as the day goes on.No point in moaning about it,though, cos no-one is making me do it and I could quit anytime I wanted.
-
good luck

Show is just 5 days away now.Currently on 50 g of carbs a day.Feeling quite pleased with how I look.Hope to be at my best ever after dropping water.I have not cheated on my diet, missed any cardio of given less than 100% in the gym so am satisfied whatever the outcome. Here's a shot taken earlier today.Think I will look a lot better with a tan ;D
-
no-one going to wish me luck for tommorrow then :'(
-
good luck dude.
-
you look fvcking awesome dude, best of luck! :)
-
Thanks, guys. Will post the result and pics on here when I get home. It's 6 am here in the UK but I can't sleep.Setting off about 10.30 am so plenty of time to tan up and have a steak.Cut water at 4 pm yesterday and then had some dry white wine about 9pm so feeling pretty dry.
Went out yesterday and bought some flapjacks and doughnuts for after the show.Might have a pizza too :D
-
no matter how you finish you will deserve that pizza. ;D
-
Cheers Windsor.Loving the avatar ;D

Good luck mate 8).

Well done mate, looking forward to seeing the pics. What kind of tan do you use?
-
A coat of Pro-Tan the night before,a coat of Dream Tan No. 2 rubbed well in on the morning of the show and another coat patted in before going onstage.I bought them online from the US and, even with $14.99 shipping,it was cheaper than buying just the Dream Tan in the UK ::)
-
Must learn not to pull stupid faces.
-
Here's a better one :-\ Could have been a bit fuller but dehydrated to make the weight class.I did NOT 'nearly die for you bitches' though!!
-
Your legs are huge. Everything looks good but the only thing I would say is maybe work on your arms a little bit more. Add some more size. Other than that very good.
-
Thank you.Totally agree about needing more arm size and overall thickness.Legs were a weak point last time I competed and I feel I have brought them up but my arms just don't seem to improve-any ideas?

Man your diet is obviously spot on. I am not sure at this stage in your career if you will be able to add much more size as a natural. How old are you?
-

Make sure you switch up your arm routine.. both biceps and triceps. When I train arms I switch up the exercises everyweek. I do barbell curls with ez and straightbar..concentrati on curls..both seated and standing..hammers. I also train forearms and do wristcurls and reverse wristcurls with barbell and dumbell. Triceps I do exercises like overhead extention with one dumbell.. switch off to two dumbells in each hand the next week, also use ez and straight barbell to do skullcrushers.. do some dips..kickbacks too. I always switch off exercises and do different angles. Most of my arm exercises I like to go a little extra heavier in weight. I think it helps me to always switch up the exercises. How long have you been training?
-
Thanks for the advice.I am 39 and have been training seriously for about 8-9 years but on and off since I was 15.Have added 5-6 lbs of muscle since I last competed in 2005-not a lot, really but ok for a skinny natural :D

Very good for a natural, just keep training and add some more size(arms).
-
I was told I would look much better if I were 3 inches shorter(I'm 6 ft and have a long torso and long limbs) but I don't think there's much I can do about that ;D.Doing another show on 8th September so will keep you posted :)
-
whats your current arm routine?
yes, monster arms btw.

What about cardio and your routine?
PS: Why Rice cakes?
How much sodium is in those?
-
That was at the start of my diet, mate. No cardio introduced until I stopped losing weight.Last 6 weeks has been 125 g of carbs per day and 40 mins cardio before breakfast.
Sodium doesn't really matter until the final week hence the rice cakes.
-
Got third out of six.Looked my best ever and received an invitation to the British Finals. Will get some pics up when they come through.

Here's the top three with myself on the right.

jonno, In a tough lineup, you looked in awesome condition... congrats. 8)
-
Thanks, mate.I was delighted with the result.Made all the dieting worthwhile but I am glad it has finished now.Still eating fairly clean 80% of the time but had a bacon, sausage and fried egg sandwich this morning :P
-
Not doing the finals??
-
No,Max.19 weeks dieting is long enough.I have other priorities at the moment.
