They both win. They are maing over 20 million each. But personally I think Floyd will win the fight, but if De La Hoya gets a lucky left jab on his chin, that could make the fight.

Mayweather just because he's faster.  Oscar is a better boxer though.

dont kid yourself squad, those guys are trained fighters, and youre a pudwhacker....  either one of them would punch you in the face about 400 times before you could land one punch.

My money is on Mayweather, and if the fight goes the way i think it will...look for oscar to be on the canvas by the 5th round.

I spend about 6 hours a week on boxing... heavy bag, jumprope, footwork, speedbag.  i buy videos from world class trainers like freddy roach and floyd sr.   Trust me when i tell you that guys of that caliber would destroy you before you even knew what happened.

Shit, Freddie Roach has parkinsons disease and i would bet my paycheck that he would knock you out in the first round.

I for one would love to see Oscar knock out Mayweather. I was a fan of Floyd until I started watching 24/7 on HBO. I know he's the best lb-for-lb but his arrogance is sickening. Oscar does come across as a pussy but he is a better fighter, smarter fighter. If he can land his jab often, Mayweather will have his hands full. If he can't land the jab, Mayweather's just too quick. One thing to ponder is...Mayweather has NEVER faced anyone as good as Oscar. Oscar on the other hand has fought guys just as good as Mayweather.....one thing is for sure, it could possibly be the best fight since Leonard/Hearns.......

Oscar Delahoya has class, the brains, the looks and is a badass...

More than any hater here!

Delahoya will win, but why is he training in Puerto Rico and not in big bear in the elevation like he did when he had all his big wins?

any of the top MMA fighters would have either of them tapping out after 30 seconds.  I also agree with SquidFat that a 240 pounder with any wrestling background would destroy either of them.  Id rip Mayweathers chickenwings off in less than a minute.

ok traps, this is a thread about a BOXING match.  In BOXING, those guys are the top of their weight class.  If an MMA fighter could get in the BOXING ring and knock either of those guys out with BOXING skills and BOXING rules, they would be getting $20,000,000 to fight....and they would have done it already.

Good boxers are very fast, have quick reactions, and are light for their height.  Most MMA guys don't have those characteristics.
Title: Re: De La Hoya vs. Mayweather

most mma guys would put said boxer on the ground quickly, or kick their front leg off and then kick their head off.

i guess its a good thing that leg kicks and takedowns and slams are illegal in boxing then

I'll tell you what...if mayweather or oscar were wearing those tiny assed mma gloves, all their fights would be firast round knockouts

Dude, you're an idiot.  Of course that would happen, that's not the point, we train MMA guys and Pro Boxers and I've seen MMA guys Box under Boxing rules and it's usually not too pretty.  Then again, that's why they are MMA guys.

Go to the MMA board for this converstion and get owned please.

Its a toss up, Delhoya is much stronger and has more experience. Floyd is very fast, but has ZERO power at 147, never mind 154. He hasnt had any sort of KO power since he fought at lightweight. Floyds defence is one of the best in boxing, but if Oscar can land a big left hook, it's game over.  None of the mayweathers have been known to have strong chins.

There is one thing to be certain of though...no way can powder puff floyd knock out Oscar, he can win a UD though. Felix Trinidad, Ike Quarty, Shane Mosely couldn't KO Oscar so there is no way Floyd can.

oscar pissed off all of mexico by moving to puerto rico.  He married a puerto rican chick, and jsut for her he changes his whole life.  Moves to PR, trains there instead of Big Bear at elevation...

not to mention that mayweather sr. has been training oscar for 6 years and now he is going to tell jr. all of oscar's secrets.  It's gonna be a massively lopsided fight.

Na Puerto Rico has some very nice areas. (like where my grandmother lives) But i really dont like it. it just dont seem too organized to me. and they dont know how to do business that well over there. My dad said he can open up any kind of busiess there and make money. But i would just retire here. I wouldnt have wanted to grow up there

Tyson was the most overrated heavyweight ever. He beat a bunch of no name fighters with big knockouts, and that left an impression in the gullible minds. As soon as he fought some real topnotch talent he was put in his place. An aging Holyfield schooled him twice. If Tyson ever stepped in the UFC against a world class wrestler like Randy Cotoure OR an effective kicker like Mirko Cro Cop he would lose everytime.

I've never done point fighting in my life. I've only been in real bareknuckle fights.

Tyson was schooled by an old Holyfield twice...nearly beaten by Francois Botha. I saw them all. Tell me the big names Tyson beat? Tyson was impressive because he scored devastating KOs against second-rate contenders.

I can tell you are a little Tyson fanboy. The same as the fanboys screaming Fedor is not human grrrr!!! hahahahah. I know far more about MMA and boxing than you do, and I am much smarter than you are!

If you know more than me about boxing that's good for you, but you definitly don't express your knowledge in these past two post.

Do ya know Guys like Pete Brodsky and Tommy Maloy...they are the guys that I wached and listen to at the Westbury, NY PAL starting around 17. They (tommy ) specifically trained my brother and I do know a thing or two about boxing....I'm just a fan of mma, but have wrestled and although just a fan I can DEFINITLY throw better leg kicks then what I saw on that show from the "so called pro's' the other day and that doesn't say much.

I follow boxing religiously,
Pretty much watch all the PPV and HBO fights when they happen.
This is a fight I have been waiting for long time, the setiment is shared with the boxing community as well.
I dont think it will be a boring fight...Oscar knows he cant 'outbox' mayweather, so he will be pressing.
Something special happens when the fight of this magnitude pops off....

Not necessarily, remember when De La Hoya fought Trinidad. That fight was hyped up a lot as well and it was a boring fight.

This fight should be exciting though because as like you said De La Hoya can't outbox Mayweather and will probably have to knock him out cold. I hope he does.

i don't think it was hyped as much as this one, atleast not by HBO

that fight was boring because oscar quit fighting after like 7 rounds because he felt he won all the rounds before that and would get the decision

I felt he won all those rounds too but i'm glad the judges didn't give him the win because you can't just quit because you think you are ahead on the scoring cards

it's weird how oscar has both trinadad and mosley supporting him for this fight on that hbo show

Spinks was at the time a world class fighter, ranked as one of the best pound for pound even.

As far as Evander Holyfield in the mid 90's... Holyfield was 34-35 for those fights, and in good shape.

Tyson's not underrated. But he never fulfilled his potential, no way near.
