Title: SPECULATE: Best Up-and-coming fighter? Who will be the next Fedor? Next Aerts?
Post by: Hedgehog on May 02, 2007, 03:39:12 AM
A lot of you fellas have a good insight in the MMA scene, so I thought it could be fun to look into the crystal ball and list who will be the next big thing and why.

UFC/Pride: Buakaw Por Pramuk, although he's already a champ in K-1 Max, IMO the best fighter in all styles, all weight classes, I think he could dominate quite well in the UFC/Pride as well. Would love to see that happen.

He's the realest shit since Roy Jones Jr was good. And Tyson.

i really don't see anyone on the scene right now that could just dominate..i do however think bisping will be great one day. but for someone to run through guys and go undeafeated like fedor...nobody... for awhile atleast.

henderson and shogun looks good.

henderson is like 37, he's hit his peak

shogun is only like 25 so I would imagine he would only get better but it doesn't always work that way

I'm an official bisping hater!  This guy flaunted around vegas like a king in night clubs  and everyone hates his ass!  The most arrogant guy I ever met, but plays the role on TV.  I can't wait for him to fight a real fighter and get punished!  Feed him to Tito!

I'd put my money on Shogun just based on the way he took apart Rampage.  I've been following him as of late and I think his career should be getting real exciting real soon.

haha seriously the guy beat Ross Pointon, kendall grove already eliminated ross and he only got a shot in the semifinals because a few other guys didn't want to fight

then he beat josh haynes who since has lost to like 2 other TUF scrubs

he almost lost to elvis sinosic WHY DOES ANYBODY THINK HE WILL BE GREAT??

hahahah...i'm with you!  Ross  the "boss" just got his ass handed to him again in some mickey mouse league.  And Josh?  He's a scrub too!  Elvis will never fight again and was brought in just to see if he had any gas left, so he's done.  Bisping has a big head and will get crushed by any of the following;  Rashad, Forrest, Bonar and any other TUF stars or other tier 2-3 guys!  Tito, Chuck, Rampage would all beat him to a pulp!

I agree that Bisping is overrated.  As far as up and coming goes, I like Brandon Vera, Frank Edgar, Roger Huerta,  Gilbert Melendez, Andre Dida and don't forget Marcelo Garcia is about to make his MMA debut.  I wouldn't go as far as to call anyone the next Fedor yet.

That guy doesnt look that tough. He will get his ass handed to him real soon. I bet Matt Hughes would demolish that guy.

I agree with the list, I would add Soko, Jacare, and Roger Gracie.  Roger is big, long, and if he develops a standup game, look out.

In a few years, you can add Nainoa Dung, if he doesn't burn out.  He is tearing up the tourneys around here and is developing into a tough kickboxer as well.  He normally fights up 25-30 lbs, and up 6-7 years.  http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=64b_1174531251

His sub grappling game is slick for an eight year old.

i like bisping because he has some good tools and with some work i can see him being a top contender. of course he has long way to go. but look how sanchez and rashad were pushed...they were overrated also.

as far as fighting tito..with some time i  think he could beat tito. after all forest gave him a run for his money.

Who has Bisping fought?  At least Diego fought some decent competition.  He beat Nick Diaz, John Alessio, Karo Parysian, Joe Riggs in succesion.

Elvis is the only name of note that the "Count" has beaten.  We will see how overrated Rashad is when he fights Tito.  Bisping lacks the power, I don't think he could keep Tito off of him for long.  Tito would take him down and GNP.

That soku is extremely impressive. It's as though he touches you and you're unconscious.

Another guy I like is Delson "Pe De Chumbo" Heleno. On the ground he has Marcelo Garcia-like skills, and his stand-up is improving. I'm also picking him to win his class at the Abu Dhabis.

Surprised that no one's mentioned Sokoudjou (spelling?) yet. I've seen film of him grappling with Hendo and he was more than holding his own. Everyone's already seen his knockout power and balance. If he can get through a fight that lasts more than 3 minutes, then it should be very interesting. The guy's only like 24 too.
