Okay, I feel all obnoxious here starting this thread, but STella made me ;D
Just some info, from the 'inside perspective' :D
Skin Care
Most spa/salon facials are "ok", but not highly effective. Microdermabrasion, Glycolic and AHA Peels are good, but quite frankly I would go to a doctor/med spa rather than a salon as US law permits them higher concentrations, hence more effective.
Nails
A popular misconception which spas encourage is manicures make nails grow – they don't. Nice to get if you want your nails to look good for an event, but they have no long term effect. As I am sure many here have experienced, acrylics damage the nail beds.
Hair Removal
Laser hair removal is really the best option, if within your budget. Anywhere from 4 – 10 treatments your hair is permanently gone.
Body Care
Salt glows/wraps/mud masques etc. are major rips offs. They have huge profit margins, so hence many spas will push them, mine does like mad ;D
Eyes
Most eye treatments are well worth getting, and create a great aesthetic difference. Eyelash perming, eyelash and brow tinting and semi permanent eyelash extensions are all excellent, and really make the eyes stand out.
Hair
Well worth spending the money on in all areas.
Products
It is really far too many products out to even go through them, is better to be able to make informed choices. Look at ingredient listing; by US law the volume of ingredients must correlate with order listed, first thing listed is the main base then down. Water first in many cases means it's a cheap watered down product. Any mineral oil or petroleum listed, dump it – its crap. One can't really say that 'you get what you pay for' per se, as product pricing depends more on market positioning rather than quality, although higher prices are more indicative of quality in general. If you to a spa/salon, take any product recommendations with a grain of salt. Staff receives commission on sales. My staff recommends everything possible, as commissions can represent a good portion of their income ;)

So I thought about it and yeah your obnoxious ;D
Too make up for it, I think all the girls (and Migs) need the full treatment on the house.
Thanks for the post, Stella should "strong arm" you a little more :-*

I had no idea these were considered rip offs and had intended to try them at some point but not now ;D

What shampoo and conditioner you use actually doesn't impact hair condition that greatly, comparatively to other things such as chemical processing, sun exposure, general hair treatment etc. A specific guide for shampoo would be if you get that actual 'squeaky' noise after you washed you hair, the shampoo is way too harsh, and has stripped natural oils, not good. To truly condition ones hair, one must deep condition, nothign better than oils for that. That being said Nexxus, Aveda and Tigi are good lines, and so is Pantene actually despite it being 'cheap'. For ethnic or very thick hair hair Avlon is fantastic. Paul Mitchell, I have found numerous hairdressers just wildly hate.

...and it's good to change your shampoo/conditioner every once in a while.

Actually it pretty much is. Hair follicles don't really have the molecular ability to render a product ineffective, which is the premise used to say that change should made. Also, from a marketing perspective that idea is promoted heavily as it increases market share.

Avlon is great. I used to use the entire Affirm line, ...until I discovered the Synergy haircare line.
I still use the Avlon relaxers, but for regular shampoos and conditioning, and deep cnditioning, I use the Synergy line.
Their haircare & skincare is the absolute best I have ever come across.
