I know a few, but what has worked for your dogs?

Are you sure it's an ear infection?
Most of the time when dog scratch their ears in not because they have an infection but because they have ear mite!
Look for small black dots inside the ear of your dog..
If it's there you can bet on it that your dog got ear mites.
Go to your vet and ask for Otiderm...it's the best product for getting rid of ear mite... ;)

Yeah, it's an ear infection.. She's got the goo in her right ear.. Didn't look to be ear mites, but maybe a yeast infection.. I gave her a shot of penicillin and been putting white vinegar in her ear.. I put hydrogen peroxide in her ear last night..

Do outside, gentian violet WILL STAIN. You can ask a pharmacist to get it if they don't have it in stock. I got it at Walmart pharmacy.
If it is a yeast problem antibiotics will make it worse because they kill the good bacteria too. So it may clear up the initial problem, but it can come back with a vengeance and you have a continuing cycle.
