What's this "fasting" business, Shapes?  I thought you were on a bulk, amigo.

What's the latest?  Lifts up, measurements?  What news?

yeah I have been bulking, getting a little bit more than maintenance everyday just enough to allow for muscle growth.

I have switched to almost exclusively Body Weight training.

It is very rewarding.

Just got a pair of rings, and the very first day I hung them I was able to do iron cross to support for reps.  I also feel way better and more powerful then when I was doing 2.75xbw sumo DLs

Cool.  I like chins and dips, but still like weights to round things out.  I think I'd feel too limited with BW excercises only.  Been meaning to incorporate handstand pushups, but my balance is shit - I'd appreciate any tips there.

Did you go into that iron cross eccentric (drop into it from the top) or concentric (bring yourself up into it from below)?  Either way... wow, if the latter, then  :o !!

Bear in mind that the greatest strength to weight ratio is found in professional rock climbers (so I've heard), but you probably wouldn't pick one of them as your ideal physique.

Then allow me this blanket statement: Body weight excercises are always shunned by lardasses.

All prices include tax and shipping from Amazon

pull up bar: 15

ab wheel: 9

put on some socks, kick up into a handstand against a wall.  if you can't kick up start by walking your feet up with your belly facing the wall.

haha pulling from a dead hang to an iron cross would be quite a feat.  As far as I know it has never been done.

However you can work towards it by doing butterfly pullups on the rings, pushing the rings out as you pull up.

i would like to acquire climbing abilities, especially the finger and hand strength.

I think it is vital prep for Ninja Warrior:

that's something I'd like to travel to try out eventually

That's not a Japanese gameshow - they didn't stop to eat something every 2 minutes.

Lots of climbers train on hangboards.  Maintaining a small hold has a lot to do with technique (finger stacking, thumb support) as well as raw strength.  I was never much of a climber, so really I'm just talking out my ass.  ;D

I'm willing to bet you're the only Getbig member who can hold an iron cross Shapes.  That's impressive.

I've heard that the hangboard is sometimes called the tendon tear board.  training those fingers is a good way to snap the tendons.  I guess you need to build up slowly

Seems reasonable that injuries would occur.  I don't understand the biomech of it, but one finger pullups is some serious overloading.  A tendon injury is probably small to those fanatics - some of those people are nuts - freeclimbers, etc.

If you're going out, go with a reputable company and pay the $.  Give them an idea of your fitness level though so you don't wind up in a class with some lardos who can't even hike to the rock.

Good way to meet fit chicks too.  8)

weight is weight...

workout intensity = (weight*reps)/time of workout

it doesn't make a hill of beans difference whether its your body weight or a piece of iron...now go forth and multiply my young ones...
