Latest repug attempt to pass the buck. How screwed up is this?
"WASHINGTON — President Bush has selected an Army lieutenant general to be his war czar in charge of overseeing the battles in Iraq and Afghanistan."
"If he keeps his current rank, as expected, Lute will be in the difficult position of overseeing people who outrank him, including Defense Secretary Robert Gates, Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Peter Pace, a Marine four-star general, and Army Gen. David Petraeus, the top commander in Iraq."

Pathetic
Will we never learn? :-\
"We trained hard, but it seemed that every time we were beginning to form up into teams, we would be reorganized. I was to learn later in life that we tend to meet any new situation by reorganization; and what a wonderful method it can be for creating the illusion of progress while producing confusion, inefficiency and demoralization.'' another reorganization, another "let's give it 9 more months after the surge to see if Lute's supervision works".
you people who don't see it's a stall... well, you're stupid. take it to the bank.
-
I don't even know where to start..i don't get this at all.

<shakes head> :-\

You will.
It's a stall. It always has been. The more you pass the torch of responsibility, the longer you go without having to answer for why you don't have results.
ieffin, do you *really* believe our 160,000 troops and 100,000 contractors cannot kill 2500 insurgents in 4 years? Come on...
If you step back, and try on the mindset of "the war theater is only a stall to get the pipeline built", then EVERY thing about this war makes perfect sense.
-
Bush is supposed to be the commander in chief. If he doesn't want that title anymore, he should resign.
That a number of 4 star general turned down the position speaks volumes.
-
I'm wondering if any Bush supporters remain? ???
-
True......240 a stall would imply plan..there is no plan..there was a plan..a good plan..then Rummy got involved....ex navy pilots without ground combat experience should not be in charge of the laterine let alone a ground invasion. And as u well know..since we have these ridiculous rules of engagement and the fact that the enemy hides in mosques and schools and blows up kids..its hard to get a handle on them. Thats why anytime these idiots come out in any kinda numbers we call in air strikes and level towns to kill them. Which in turn piss's off the Iraqi's.

HH6,
Perhaps the plan is "No Plan".
*IF* the goal is oil, then the more chaos the better to justify our presence (while the pipeline is built).
-
Ok but if the morons blow up the pipeline..u could be right but they are way outa control
-
Impeach the president.

Bush and the Repugs need someone to blame the war on, don't they?
-

insurgents attack the pipeline every chance they get! They KNOW it means their only asset is leaving the nation.
-
yeah but they have to sell it to somebody..anyway blowing up their own people doesn't sound like a great plan. Further..why do people back these guys? The answer is they don't but they are scared as hell. At some point u would think the average citizen would see that we're trying to help while the insurgents/terrorists/foreign fighters aren't doinga thing for them.
-
we're trying to help
the US, a nation of many resources, is trying to take the one they have.
i'm not sure we're "helping" much
-
Look bro they would be selling it on the open market and as it is we aren't the biggest buyer of it. We have to virtually rebuild their whole country..no big deal except for all the assholes with IEDs
-
But in the larger sense I get ur point.
-
We have to virtually rebuild their whole country..
Why hasn't anyone put forward a plan to build up Mexico?
-
Thats another disaster....but we give them a ton of money
-

Behold your folly!

respect.

Why hasn't anyone put forward a plan to build up Mexico?
Cause Tequila is still cheap.
;)
-
Why hasn't anyone put forward a plan to build up Mexico?
Because the Mexicans are rebuilding the USA!
-
Why hasn't anyone put forward a plan to build up Mexico?
They take billions of dollars a year to Mexico, I just don't see them putting it to use. Isn't income from US jobs the second biggest money maker in Mexico?
-
Whatever happened to the War Czar? Has he accomplished anything?
-
yes, we will never cut and run from our great commander in chief.
Yes, what's it like living in the bunker with BUSH?
-
very safe.
I'm sure Albert Speer felt the same way. ;)
