There was no one whose promos I more looked forward to than those of The Macho Man - Randy Savage.

Roddy Piper made me laugh more than anyone.

One could never really dislike Piper - even when he viciously baited Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka before smashing his head with a coconut.

In this, they simply followed Stone Cold's lead.

stone cold started that and it still goes on today, whenever I get a chance to watch and Vince is on, the crowd does the WHAT chant every chance they get.

When do they do anything the Rock every did? Never. Sorry Earl, alot of good guys back in the day. Not so many from what I've seen of todays guys

This was the best ever, before he ruined himself with drugs.

that was then, I'm talking about now. Do the fans repeat anything the Rock ever did, like the "What" chant? Now?

Macho was always the most out of control

Warrior was the Daddywaddy of WWF ("The galatic space time universe time warp which was the warriors great evolutionary power has condemned HULK HOGAN ...)

Hogan when he was on top and on the juice was funny too

Bobby Heenan had the funniest commentary from the side hahha

Opinions vary. I love The way Nash pulled back the curtain and made everything a joke. The whole thing was a shoot. As for Sting, in his days of fighting with Flair for his first title at American Bash they were classic. That was pre christian/raven ripoff sting.

Kurt Angle in his peak (2000-2002) was really really good too.

Jake was awesome on the mic.
He neither had nor needed writers or vignettes.
He could get real deep in the interviews and make the audience “believe” that he was really going to do what he said he would.

Piper broke new ground for the promo when he convinced Vince Jr. to devote an entire segment of his show – Piper’s Pit –  to an interview segment not just of a wrestler, but conducted by one as well. Piper proved that more mic. time equated to greater character development.

Ultimate Warrior’s interviews demonstrated the need for professional writers.

Unlike Kevin Nash, HHH (as a heel) abandoned catchphrases and cheap pops in favor of coming across as a true asshole. Nash’s interviews were always the same, whether heel or face. He just wanted those pops.

Hulk stressed the importance of training, saying your prayers and taking your vitamins – both orals and injectibles.

Foley recognized the need to change with the times. Gone were the traditional Jake Roberts style promos that required an audience to think, and in was the jokes, audience interaction and cheap pops appropriate to his character. Though he could revert back to “hardcore” with the promos when the need occasionally arose for a particular story line.

The Rock: "FINALLY... The ROCK has come BACK to..."
The only man alive capable of keeping a straight face saying "Roody Poo- anything"
Asking for the commentater's name, then cutting 'em off w/ "It doesn't MATTER what your name is!!"
Classic stuff- my Dad still calls me a 'Jabroni' sometimes
