hey guys, been on here for a good while and just did the nc state championships on april 14th where i placed 4th out of 8 in the mens middleweight class... just wanted some honest criticism

The top 3 must have looked pretty damn good for a local show. You look good.

thanks the top three were in a lil better condition than me, but all but one of their shapes sucked, everyone was telling me i should have placed better

u looked really good, waist could have been a lil tighter, and ur legs looked to be holding water and also lacked seperation.
But thats just being picky, for a local show u should have won w/ur physique, must have been a tough group.

I'd say you are on your way to being a top middleweight, with potential for light heavy. You look very good.

I was there, my friend won the Light-Heavies.
I thought you could have been a place or two higher. The kid that won your class (and overall) was just in sick condition. If he could pose properly, he'd have looked even better. Still, only 19 years old... Damn.
Your conditionong was not a problem, just need a bit more detail to your thighs. The further up you go, they tend to look smoothed out. I don't know if it's a genetic thing, or the way you're posing, because there's not much bodyfat anywhere else.

My bodyfat was down really low, I do have some trouble bringing out the rectus femoris of my thighs, but i'm getting better at it the more i practice, and there is no way i could make the middleweights next year as i about killed myself to make the middles, and oh yea i turned 20 on april the 6th, but they didn't point that out :-\

Shit son, you have tons of time! Just keep doing what you're doing. You obviously have the dieting down, just be sure that your offseason is productive and the muscle you gain over the next few years will make a huge difference.
And as far as muscle separation goes...muscle maturity. You're only 20, be patient.

Oh definitely bro, I plan on getting up to about 220 this year if all goes well, and coming in somewhere in the lightheavies, where i think with my physique i will be alot better off

Instead of trying to reach a certain goal weight, why not just let the chips fall where they may?
You've got pretty much everything you need (I would be nit picky and say a bit more back thickness from the photos), why not refine what you brought in to that contest, instead of taking a possible risk and being bigger and smoother and/or holding water at a different bodyweight that you don't know how to deal with.
Either way, you've got a bright future at your age and what you've already presented. :)

i'm not trying to just make the light heavies, but i should have been one at the states, i was 191 a week and a half out and 183 the day before, i had to struggle my ass off to lose the weight to make class because everyone was telling me i would have a better chance at the top of the middleweights then at the bottom or middle of the light heavies, but that is my plan to let my weight fall where it may and bring my best package to date

Need more size, but conditioning is pretty good for a state show.
And.....everyone tells EVERYONE they should have placed better. That is how it goes. If you don't win...everyone is going to tell you that you should have placed better. Take little stock in that, and be honest with yourself about what you need to improve.

very good upperbody,legs are big ,need conditioning fr quads and rear on the hams,need to be drier.u have a lean upper body which probably gets in shape quick,ur legs are stocky and thats probably where u dropped wght to make class.

no real weak spots. looks very balanced.
i guess the judges just want more overall mass maybe.
top 3 must have been very good like said.
