Like I said in my other post, I got some NOW Sports BCAA Powder. This stuff is nasty! I've tried to stir it in with my Glutamine (which dissloves great), but the BCAA Powder just doesn't dissolver or even mix with the liquid? It just floats on top, and I can't stir it in?
Is this the case with all BCAA powders or does the NOW brand just suck? I like everything else I've tried from NOW though.
Would it be better to just mix the BCAA powder with a protein shake before and after working out?

you don't really even need a BCAA powder IF you're using a good whey protein, it's redundant, but i use the MRM BCAA powder because i like to just eat solid food after i train, the best thing to do with these BCAA powders is to just bite the bullett, pinch your nose and dump the scoop in your mouth dry and chase it with water, the MRM scoop is extremely small so it's no big deal.

BTW do yourself a favor and try the MRM BCAA+G, it's got an extremely small scoop and it gives you 5 grams of BCAA's in 3 scoops and 1 gram of glutamine and it tastes like lemonade when you chase it with water, you can get it for 19 bucks off of bb.com.

It's normal.
Just take the powder on a spoon, as SF suggested.

WhiteHulk4,
Sorry to hear that you got stuck with some "old style" BCAA powder.
I know very well how rough standard BCAA powders are by experience.
I typically take my powders dry off the spoon and I'll never forget the first time I tried to choke down some BCAAs and blew a huge cloud of white powder across my kitchen from choking so hard.
Anyway, check out our new Instantized BCAA 5000 Powder.
We have an exclusive on new technology that allows for the BCAA powder to go into solution almost instantly with just a couple spins of your spoon.
And it's unflavored so you can mix it into whatever you are drinking without changing the taste.

just stuff one scoop right in your mouth and wash it down with water.
taste like aspirin with a chalky texture.
-
Misterbig is correct. One big spoonful into mouth, one big drink. Done!

Yea, that's what I've been doing. Not the most pleasant thing, but oh well. I'll definitely check out ON1's suggestion too, once I've choked down all that I have.

Sorry not true.
Go with Scivation's Xtend. Watermelon and lemon are both VERY good flavors.

I did buy ON's BCAA 5000 instantized stuff, and he was right. It mixes instantly in cold water! It still does taste like crap, but it's 1000% easier to take.

WhiteHulk, try Scivation's Xtend....mixes well and tastes great at a decent price

Definitely second this. Lemon and Watermelon are great flavors.

A neat little trick is to use Crystal Light. You can also use a bit warmer water than usual, but not too hot (as is, I'm not sure how temperature affects the quality of BCAA's if you use hotter than room temp water).
Supposedly the citric acid of CL makes the BCAA's a bit more soluble. Try mixing it up and let it sit for 5-10min.

mix 6 egg whites with one half can diet mountain dew and BOOM pre workout shake high in protein and bcaa's with some caffiene too

You should have been on Fear Factor dude! Because if you could drink that concoction, then I'm sure you'd have no problem with fish guts and snake shit (and whatever else they used to have to eat on that show!). I've got a weak stomach for gross stuff, and egg whites mixes with a carbonated beverage sounds about as gross as it gets!
-
lol ! i was drinking raw egg whites for a little while, but after about ten workouts the i couldnt bare the feeling of the any more (its the texture not the taste !) so adding diet soda takes away the texture and masks it with bubbles and sweetness

if you're taking a solid protien supplement along with eating a good amount of meat each day..why spend the money on bcaa's? ???

They are faster absorbed, trigger protein oxidation and stabilize serum glutamine levels.

So does that mean you shouldn't mix them in with your protein shake?

i do mix them with other aminos or with soy protein. I rarely take them on its own.
Mixing them into whey has no merit, since whey has enough BCAA.
-
So does that mean you shouldn't mix them in with your protein shake?
take them seperately, they are the only aminos which avoid hepatic metabolism.

That is correct.
