Dumbass Edwards charged $55,000 to give a speach on....you guessed it....poverty. And then he charged $17 a ticket to see him talk about ways to correct the poverty problem. I have an Idea, donate $55,000 to charity, oh and throw in the $800 for the haircuts. I bet BayGBM doesn't pay $400 a cut.
-
Now if he charged 100K to give a "speach" on how to give tax breaks to the rich, I expect you would have no problem with that.

Maybe if I was rich. You should try to see where I stand on issues before making jackass comments. We are overly taxed, I don't care what they do to fix that but they need to lessen the taxes on middle america

It will have absolutely no effect, the right has the unique disctinction of being intelligent enough to criticize republicans, liberals are all idiots and will vote left no matter what they do. Democrats can do no wrong in their eyes.

You think? I think things like this will hurt his on the fence voters
-
it's a punk move on edwards' part, one of many.
but i still think he'll outlast the others. isnt he leading in iowa?
-
Honestly would anyone vote for this clown? I hope he gets the nod because there is no way middle america would vote for his ass and we will end up in a lesser of 2 evils election like '04
-
You guys actually think because he makes 55K a speech , he is not electable.
Rudy G earned 16 million this past year, 90% of it from speeches.
Bill Clinton earns from 100K to 200K per speech.
and I guarantee 95% of america has no idea what they make per speech and that same 95% wouldn't give a yack anyway.
Edwards if the Dem's are smart is their best bet, Obama & Hillary are completely un-electable.
That said, expect the dems to blow it anyway and run hillary the dyke biatch.
-
Bill Clinton makes 100 to 200k per speech.
And we all know he could win the election in a landslide should he be allowed to run again.

It is the fact he charges that much to tell people how to beat out POVERTY! Kind of wrong in my eyes.

Don;t they all charge for speaking unless they are on a campaign and even then, if you have your speech in a hotel you still have to pay for it.....

I'm just saying man, now if had donated that money to a cause, I would not say anything

Edwards is only worth 4 to 9 mil.
That is WAY less than romney, mccain, hilary, rudy, and some of the others.
His wife is fighting cancer. He's just living off $ he saved as a lawyer. He's not at all *rich* by presidential cadidate standards.
charging $ for a speech isn't a huge deal. Rudy made $16 MIL in 16 months speaking on terrorism. How is capitalizing on 911 any different from capitaliing off poverty?
-

The intelligent in the right are a minority. The right is full of mostly idiots who's political beliefs stem out of hating others and ignorance. What's funny is that you call yourselves 'conservative' when you're anything but. And if republicans are intelligent to the point where they can call out their own party, then why didn't mm69 post a sister topic where he would be critical of Guliani and Romney for being sucessful?

I don't pay any attention to Rudy and dread him as pres as much as hillary, If he is so broke what is with the $400 dollar haircuts? I get mine cut 2 times a month and only spent $240 all last year!

From 2003: "But Sen. John Edwards of North Carolina was not hurting. He reported a net worth ranging from $12.8 million to $60 million."

"Former Senator John Edwards of North Carolina, who has spent the last three years crusading against poverty, also reported about $30 million in assets. His income included nearly half a million dollars for advising an elite investment fund and $40,000 for directing a poverty studies program at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
Mr. Giuliani and Mr. Edwards reported their assets in personal financial disclosure forms released Wednesday by the Federal Election Commission."

Who cares what he's worth. Advocacy of things benefitting the poor is a noble cause.
Does he have to be poor to help the poor?

I was just correcting misinformation. I could care less what he's worth.
On the other hand, someone who is able to obtain a high net worth through hard work, smart investing, etc. has some of the qualities necessary to run the country. That's one of the reasons I like Arnold.

In that we agree. That's the same reason why I like Edwards.
