Title: Keyshawn done
Post by: Tre on May 23, 2007, 07:52:52 PM

On a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the worst, how big a bust was this guy in the NFL?

I say 9.

A bust?  Why do you say that?

I have never been a Me-Shawn fan, but here are some numbers:

- Pro Bowl 3 times
- 814 catches for 10,571 yards and 64 TDs
- 15th all time in receptions
- 23rd all time in yards
- 44th in TDs

I agree. A level "9" bust would be a guy like Leaf. With the numbers key has, you cannot really label him a bust at all.

He was taken number one overall so maybe people expected him to be superman or something.... Fact is he was productive and had a good career.

Although the numbers are solid, it's not like he's accomplished anything that no one else could've.

I based my opinion on the hype (much of it from him) vs delivery.

He was a journeyman and never close to a difference maker or franchise player.

Bust is entirely inappropriate. A good player just not nearly what he thought & said he was.

Nice replacement for Michael Irvin; a good analyst I think. They said it was embarassing and a little bizarre on draft day when he covered his own team's selection of a WR probably intended to replace him. ;)

He had the 3rd most receptions ever through the first 11 yrs of a career, Only Harrision and Rice had more in their first 11yrs.

Hope this helps.

Proves that numbers can be misleading. He was a factor but only a borderline impact player IMO.

I do believe he has won a Super Bowl and led his team in receiving that game ;)

Tampa Bay             No.      Yds.     LG    TD
K.Johnson              6        69      18     0

Anyone think he has a shot at the Hall of Fame?

I say he's below fringe status and don't think he'll be inducted. And I don't think it's a stretch to say that.

Not anytime soon.  There are a number of players more deserving, like Andre Reed and Art Monk.

He had a good career (not great) considering.....as for his character....that's another story.

Right on bro!

But don't get pumpster on here to talk about Art Monk. He apparently doesn't think Monk's Hall-worthy. I do, bigtime!

Some notables from the 1996 draft, where Me-Shawn went no. 1 overall:

6.  Lawrence Phillips = bust
8.  Tim Biakabutuka = bust
9.  Rickey Dudley = bust
19.  Marvin Harrison = HOF
26.  Ray Lewis = stud

Awsome class of wr's in that draft.

Marvin Harrison
Terry Glenn
Eric Moulds
Terrell Owens
Joe Horn
Keyshawn
Muhsin Muhammad

Each of those other WRs you named has been a much bigger difference maker for his teams.  I guess it could be argued that Moulds never reached his potential, but the bar was a lot lower for him.

If he's not even a top 5 player at his position out of his draft class, then there's no way he gets into the Hall.

It's the Hall of FAME, not the Hall of Solid.

He was a possesion reciever at best. Considering he was the # 1 overall pick, he was a fucking bust.

And he mocked Sterling Sharpe after Tampa's superbowl win, which showed he had no fucking class at all.

he was a good player but for being drafted number one overall which receivers never are, he was a bust

marvin harrison and TO were drafted after him (TO in the later rounds) and they are 10 times the gamebreaker keyshawn is

Exactly.

And besides, how good could he really be if he was never drafted before the 10th round of any fantasy football league?
