I made my own weights out of milk gallons and a metal pipe before my Uncle bought me a weight set in my early teens

I remember going through many broom or mop sticks...breaking the end off of it and add ing those plastic weights that used to have cement in them to each end of the broom/mop stick and nailing them into the stick so they wouldn't move.
...and there you have it....a nice weighted curl/tricep/bench/squat.whatever bar. ; )

I was forced to do weight training when I was about 11 years old as part of my swimming training in winter.
Mainly Olympic lifting moves.
I started training because I wanted to when I was about 15

15 during the summer between my freshman and sophmore year in high school. My baseball coach wanted me bigger. I was 130 and a gymnast.

about 16 or 17. but not more seriously until i went to college. (18 or 19) , i too was a scrawney dude at first. (about 125-130). now i'm 190!
